I shopped for both my babies beforehand and had no problems. If you are having a good pregnancy, baby is healthy with checkups it will save you big time after the baby if you are prepared. The last thing you will want to do after the baby is firstborn is go shopping. I think other world superstitions are just that, have some faith in God!

Just because its tradition to not shop for your baby doesn't mean its right. if you feel the need to prepare for a baby, you should, no matter what.

some people don't buy stuff for the baby until after it's born, in case it dies. It's just a superstition from way back, do what you want.

If you are Hindu then yes because it's a common belief and you respect that.

If you are not then the choice is personal.

No, I wouldn't expect that you will feel up to shopping soon after giving birth, so go ahead and find some adorable newborn outfits and toys.

I think it depends on you!

I didn't but it wasn't because of being paranoid. I just wasn't sure what I needed/wanted

What are you going to do for clothes when your baby comes if you don't shop before hand?

You need to be prepared for that baby, that means go shop now and get the things you need. How can being prepared be wrong?

well if you believe in Murphy's law then don't do it, but if you're gonna miscarry then it would have happened weather you bought the stuff or not, so you should probably just find what you want, and in case the baby comes early someone can go get the stuff for you, so you have everything to come home to.

It's not necessarily bad, just bad luck. Hindu's aren't the only religion who believe this is bad luck.

I don't believe in that but I personally have had several miscarriages and recently had a stillborn baby due to her umbilical cord being wrapped around her neck 3 times, The first pregnancy loss I spent hundreds of dollars on maternity clothes b/f I even needed them and I lost the baby at 7 weeks so needless to say the next time around I didn't buy a thing and I lost the baby again at 7 weeks
My last pregnancy as it seemed to progress normally I did buy maternity clothes as I needed them but I only bought one thing for the baby and I was 5 months pregnant I knew I was having a girl and I knew we were going to name her Ella so I bought a large E for Ella for her room and 2 weeks later I lost her to the cord accident, but I had a felling from the beginning that something was going to go wrong, so really it's all in how you feel about the pregnancy, it's perfectly normal to buy for you and your baby while your pregnancy, especially if it's your first
Good luck and know that god has given you a blessing by being pregnant

I don't think it's bad. I started shopping for my daughter when i was three months pregnant with her and she has turned out to be a beautiful healthy little girl.
