Shouldn't temple organizers promote more philsophical discourses in hindu temples tha
Most people dint have the understanding behind our worship or way of living.
Gita itself glorifies Bhakti as the single means of achieving higher goals. But, isn't that karma and Janna that matures into Bhakti has the most staunch and clearer approach. Also, one singing the name of the Lord comprehending its meaning, would have deeper love/understanding. Our Rush's, prescribed daily leisure routines as reading commentaries/listen to spiritual discourses other than the main schedule of Worship/Bhakti.
Philosophical discourses will improve the spiritual knowledge of the common people.The temple organizers must promote such things.Also the people strength for coming to the temple will also increase drastically.
Why not ? But the scope is less because it comes in the way of thiruvaradhanam, seva kalam and utsavams of the temple.
There are discourses already being conducted in different places other than temple but there are few people showing interest and benefitting. Only the same set of people attend them.
Philosophical discourses; done with excellence and perfection; are merely a medium to motivate and drive people; especially with the type and kind of knowledge and ability of the fruits to be gained; by performing the acts of simple bhaji and worship;
They need to be done only by those who have gained and reaped the fruits of performing the acts of simple bhaji and worship; by the self.
Physical discourses offered by others; are not a way of gaining the understanding behind simple bhaji and worship;
To become able to gain the understanding of self behind simple bhaji and worship; one needs to know about, follow, and practice the reasons, objects, activities, actions, nature and self of the knowledge, intelligence, learning, education, nature, and self of that ability, understanding, simplicity, bhaji, and worship; which is being promoted through physical discourses.
You are right but not all of us has equal understanding of philosophical discourses .
Not all will understand .For this one has to study under right guru or person to understand.
That is why simple bhaji or worship is recommended because all understands it.
Most important is understanding god through true devotion from heart and this is also
said in Bhagvadgita.
For higher level of philosophical discourses, it is to be left for the person with
higher mentality like sages etc .
So we have simple stories associated with bhaji discourses so that people understand
the logic . That is why Bhakti movement was successful in the medieval period of India.
No rituals and no religious rites . Just worship god from heart with simple prayers
are more than philosophical talks.
I think, yes. Bhakti is however useful and edifying for all. The "philosophical discourses" (Janna?) should be kept to a minimum or at least set aside for those who want to hear or participate in them. In many Christian churches, for instance, there is a time set aside, usually before the worship, for "Bible study" ... perhaps Hindu temples could use a similar practice to allow those who are interested in learning about our ways. Coming from a Western background, I know that I would certainly appreciate such an approach.
The problem is non -availability of competent people to discourse it.Most of our hymns and method of rituals are in Sanskrit as per the custom and traditions which differ from time to time and no body could understand it properly in absence of knowledge of Sanskrit.Regional languages simply mention it in their script without any explanation.If Hinduism is to be understood in it s true spirit,Government of India has to initiate it by starting institution for it and encouraging NGO and private organization.Veda Padilla is to be started everywhere.
that is what presently happening to Hinduism today!
simply following the ritual and rites of the temple,
without knowing what is it all about ultimately
we must not allow bhaji worship without knowing
the basic theory part of Hinduism IE.geetha
some discourses on Upanishads are essential
for knowing Hinduism.......
otherwise,.. the priest class will rob the
people because of their ignorance....drown them
in rites and rituals , ignorance and whatnot?
