Default What is the significance of Purnima and Amavas (full moon & No moon) in Hinduism ?

Why Hindus avoid non-veg food during these two days ??

On Purnima Day, they observe fasting and worship their deity . They go for holy baths and in the evening offer sacred water to the rising" Moon God".
On Amavas, they offer and pray for the departed souls of their ancestors.

Hindus are either vegetarian and if some of them go for flesh eating , they must opt for JHATKA MEAT which is prepared causing very little pain to animal.

In contrast , Halal meat( meat after causing immense torture to animal) is strictly forbidden for Hindus and Sikhs.
Unfortunately , nowadays Hindus do not distinguish between Halal and Jhatka meat.

I admire Sikhs, most of them avoid Halal meat.
