Hinduism: Was it First? Completely secular question guys.?

I'm not seeking a spiritual affirmation with this question as I'm not Hindu. I'm asking a completely secular question regarding the origins of belief.

It is obvious that Hinduism is the oldest surviving religion in the world, being that scholars can't pinpoint its origins. With the Rig Veda being written no less than 4,000 years ago and perhaps over 5,000 years ago. It is believed by some scholars to be a cross-culture identity of the Aryan and Indus peoples.

So, do you think it may be so ancient that it may be the first religion of mankind?
Wow. I don't even know where you read something like that Mark. Upanishads were written in the 9Th century BCE.

No. Nature worship/paganism was first. That's why all religion has parallels with paganism.

If mankind is over 200,000 years old, then it's very unlikely that the first religion of mankind is 5,000 years old.

The first Deity worshiped was Jehovah. Hinduism , from what I read , only has real roots in or around 500 b.c.If you want to add another 500 years..it still would only be 3000 years old. The rest is speculation....Mark
