Default Hindus, what percentage of people in India follow the Shakti sect of Hinduism ?

I can't find any statistics on this. Please give your opinion or maybe some source for statistics.

I was unable to find a exact number of devotees to Shakism also but there are many. Here is what I found below, I stared your question so that perhaps one of my Hindu contacts can give you a percentage. India is considered to be the land of the Goddess in these modern times. I also consider it a great misfortune for many human beings that the Goddess is rejected in many religions today.

Shaktism is practiced throughout the Indian subcontinent and beyond, in countless forms, both Tantric and non-Tantric; however, its two largest and most visible schools are the Srikula (lit., family of Sri), strongest in South India, and the Kalikula (family of Kali), which prevails in northern and eastern India

Practically every Hindu (1 billion) worships Sakthi in many forms--but predominantly in 3 forms--Durga(for victory).Lakshmi(8 kinds of wealth) and Saraswathi(Knowledge and education.)

About 560 forms of worship were prevailing in India around 2 ND Century A.D.Acharya SRO.SANKARA combined and regrouped all of them into 6 major forms of worship. So Acharya SRO.SANKARA is known as "Shan Matha Sthaapanaacharya(Establisher of 6 kinds of worship)--

Of the 6:- Gaanapathyam(sri.Ganapthy's worship)--Kaumaaram(sri Kumaara Swamy's worship),--Saaktham(sri.Sakthi worship)--Saivam(sri Siva's worship) are grouped into ONE

Vaishnavam(sri.Vishnu's worship) and Zouram(sri.Surya's worship) are clubbed together--now Syrya's worship as a seperate entity has been given up and inluded in routine prayers. '

There is a concept(True also) held by many eminent Intectualls that only the Vedhic concept of "Pancha Aayadhanam" (5 kinds of worship) has been extended to 6 by introducing Kaumaaram by sri.SANKARA Acharya "codified" .But every Hindu ,including his critiques accept sri.SANKARA"s contribution in reviving Sanathana Dharmam(a.k.a.Hinduism) from almost "Extinction" (due to predominance of Buddhism) ---is immeasurable.

Saakthas are expected to "Exclusively" worship the Supreme Being(Brahmam) as Goddess ONLY--they are NOT supposed to worship in God masculine form at all!!!!.--But I think there is nobody today, may be except a few "Vaama Achaaram" Kaali followers in Bengal. This is considered as a kind of "Taamasic"( a kind of dark--mysticism- worship)--I think nobody is there today--

Acharya SANKARA renovated/re-introduced from Vedhic texts a kind "Saatvic"(peaceful.pleasant) form of worship of Sakthi known as "Sri Vidhya"--many "SriVidhya Upaasakaas " are there in all the 4 states of South India. This is also very complicated gestural (using Mudra-Nyaasam-Karanam-Aasanam-Kundalini etc.) kind of
worship--they have Nava Aavarana Pooja--Baala--Sakthi Pancha Akshari(6 syllables)--Pancha Dasa Akshari Japam(15 syllables)--Sowbhaagya Pancha Dasa Akshari(18 syllables) etc. This type of worship requires proper guidance from a Guru.(qualified Teacher)

Some rural kind of Goddess worship ( without much under-lying philosophy) is also coming up now a days.

YOGA(m) is a part of Sakthi worship.(YOGAm includes Aasanam, Mudra, Nyaasam, Karanam, Praanaayaamam, Prathyaakaaram etc) It is why many Hindus take objection of making YOGA(m) a "commercial commodity" in Western Countries--saying "Not teaching Religious part-but teaching only "Irreligious" part etc,

Its is the same if I bow down to Shiva or Shakti, IT is just represented as a women for women.

In Hinduism it is Shaktism which follows the Mother

In Christianity it is Catholicism which follows Mother Mary

Friend,

You will not find Statistics any where.

In North India the Sakti Pooja is predominant than in South India.

In South Vishnu and Shiva are worshiped mainly.

Such statistics are not available at all. No followers get themselves registered with any institution. Personally I think, no religious followers of any religion get themselves registered with any institution. Shakti sect is practiced by many openly and also secretly.

Please do not waste your time even for getting such information.
