I don't know if that is the proper term I suspect not. Try looking about Hindu Temples.

Tribes? Start with the encyclopedia to understand what the Hindu religion is about and the terms they use. Hindus belong to different "classes" or "castes", and are not tribal in the sense of North American Indian "tribes".

The Indian caste system describes the system of the social stratification and social restrictions in India in which social classes are defined by thousands of endogenous hereditary groups. The Indian caste system involves four castes and out casted social groups. Although generally identified with Hinduism, the caste system was also observed among the ancient Persians and followers of other religions in the Indian subcontinent, including some groups of Muslims and Christians, most likely through cultural assimilation over centuries. Caste barriers have mostly broken down in large cities, where 71% of India's population resides. That is also true of those living in the Western nations, like Europe and the Americas. Some may have been away from the practice for such a length of time that they do not know their own "caste", including those Hindus that are living in Canada.

Your teacher is not approving because the only "tribes" in Canada are the First Nations people like the Inuit or Iroquois, and they are NOT Indians from India. There are Hindu temples and Hindu organizations in Canada, but they were built by people who moved here from elsewhere!

Hinduism is native to INDIA, not Canada. Geeze Louise, kid, do some research!

Hindudes are the kind of Indians that are from India.

The kind of "Indians" that have tribes in Canada are what Canadians call the First Nations.

In the US, we call them Indians, but that term is as popular as it was.
