I thought they were the same... wait incarnation is probably the first time your spirit being is created, while rebirth is when it happens again and again until you are able to reach the spiritual level (and let go of enough earthly things) were you can become one with the eternal god

Incarnation is sort of Gods or Angels taking non-deity forms.. like fish, bird, animal, man, snake, turtle...etc... what Indian culture says about AVATARAM OF LORD. (We have 10 such incarnations of Lord Vishnu, according to Hindu Scirptures, the so called Dashavatara's)

Rebirth is sort of Humans or other Non-Deity Forms taking another birth, of human, animal or any other creature... it is believed that when we die, we take birth again, in a form as fitting to the overall Well-doing or Sin that we have committed during the current birth...

rebirth is reincarnation. we have had 200,000 lives or so on this planet but we do not recall them ever unless you need that information during your spiritual progress " back to God".
We all follow like it or not the law of rebirth cause and effect the law of Karma and so on.

If we take the Sanskrit words, we can better understand.

avatars or incarnation is in connection with the Bhagvan (Supreme Lord) who descends (avatar an) from the spiritual world to the material world to reclaim the fallen conditioned souls.

pun-janma or rebirth is in connection with the Atma (spirit souls) who takes on different bodies in different lives according to ones Karma, until liberation when the at ma leaves the shackle of the gross body made up of pan ca-bhuta and subtle body and returns to the spiritual planet in his original eternal spiritual identity.

For Bhagavan, there is no difference between his body and himself, since he descends himself in his self-same body. For the atma there is difference between the body in which he leaves in various lives and he himself until he returns to the spiritual planet when he exists in his eternal spiritual identity.
