Default Hinduism...What has tantra got to do with the love of Krishna and the gopikas?

I have heard from many sadhus about love of Gopikas for Krishna. It is said to be complete immersion in love and lust with absolute focus on the partner. Some sadhus also say that it is the tantra philosophy of love making. So did the philosophy of tantra exist during Krishna's times? Your inputs please.

Satvic tantra in the mode of goodness are pure, whereas the TamasICCnd rajas's tantra are impure.

The go pis love of Krishna is not material, but spiritual and thus is beyond stave, raj as and Tamas.

Pancaratrika-vidhi is a combination of Vedic and tantric methods of worship: it employs those aspects of Vedic worship directed explicitly to Lord Via?u and those aspects of tantra that are sattvika. Compared to tantric worship, Vedic worship generally uses fewer but longer mantras and simpler, more comprehensive procedures. Vedic mantras are taken directly from the four Vedic samhitas (?g, Sama, Yajur, and Atharva), while tantric mantras are taken from the tantra agamas (supplements to the Vedas), which various ?isis derived from the brahma?a and ara?yaka sections of the Vedas.
The gosvamis prefer the purificatory process under pancaratrika formulas to the Vedic rites. The pancaratrika system acts on the sudra class of men, supposedly the population of the Kali-yuga, and it is the purificatory process suitable to this age and time.
Often the pancaratra literature as well as the pancaratrika system of worship are refered to as 'Vaisnava-tantra.'

One who desires to quickly cut the knot of false ego, which binds the spirit soul, should worship the Supreme Lord, Ke?ava, by the regulations found in Vedic literatures such as the tantras.

PURPORT

The Vedic literatures contain mysterious descriptions of the Absolute Truth that stimulate philosophical speculation. The Vedas also offer heavenly rewards for the performance of ritualistic ceremonies. But as stated in verse 44 of this chapter such j??na-k?n?d?a and karma-k?n?d?a sections of the Vedas are b?l?n?m anu??sanam; that is, because less intelligent or childish persons are addicted to mental speculation and fruitive activity, these sections of the Vedas are meant to attract such persons to take shelter of the Vedic injunctions for gradual promotion to the perfect stage of Kr?s?n?a consciousness.

Now that the path for those who are materialistic has been described in several verses, this verse describes the process for those who are vij?ah?, or learned transcendentalists. Such learned transcendentalists are advised to follow the regulated worship described in such Vais?n?ava tantras as ?r? N?rada-pa?car?tra for pleasing the Supreme Lord directly. The words upacared devam? tantroktena ca ke?avam indicate that one should directly worship Ke?ava, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who appears in many different incarnations to please His devotees. ?r?la Jayadeva Gosv?m? has described the pastimes of the Lord in his song describing ten prominent incarnations of the Personality of Godhead, Ke?ava: Lord Fish, Lord Tortoise, Lord Boar, Lord Nr?sim?hadeva, Lord V?mana, Lord Para?ur?ma, Lord R?macandra, Lord Balar?ma, Lord Buddha and Lord Kalki. The words upacared devam indicate devotional service to the Personality of Godhead. And therefore the word tantroktena, or "injunctions of the tantras," should be understood to indicate vais?n?ava-tantras such as ?r? N?rada-pa?car?tra, which give explicit and detailed instructions for worshiping Ke?ava. The Vedas are referred to by the term nigama. And the elaborate explanation of these nigamas is called ?gama, or tantra. When the transcendental living entity becomes perturbed by the obnoxious harassment of material bodily dualities, he becomes eager to hear from the Vedas about his transcendental situation. The word ??u in this verse indicates that those who are eager to put a quick end to material existence and situate themselves in the eternal blissful life of perfect knowledge should directly worship Lord Kr?s?n?a, bypassing the preliminary Vedic rituals described in the previous verses.

The relation of Krishna and go pis is pure Bhakti and total surrender to the lord.There is no room for lust. There is no Tantra in it. Pure bhaji is a very difficult thing to attain. It requires 24hr remembrance of god and no interest in any thing else.Meera and SRO Ramakrishna had such bhaji.
