Who is the founder of Hinduism and who is the historical person by the name "Hindu"?
When and where did the person "Hindu" organized Hinduism?
If your answers indicate that there is no person by name Hindu and there is actual Hinduism attributed to the founder, then what is the origin of these terms.
What then Hindu or Hinduism can be called properly?
Just like we do not know who is the inventor of fire or wheel we do not know the founder of the so called Hindu Religion. There was no founder or any saint by the name Hindu. The name Hindu was created by historians for the very old religion called SANATHANA DHARMA.
There is no founder of Hinduism. Yes Sanatan Dharma was propagated by Adi Shankarachaya who believed Advaita philosophy where he believed in Brahma. According to him, Brahma sat yam jag at Mithra, jive Brahmani Norah ? Brahman is the only truth, the world is an illusion, and there is ultimately no difference between Brahman and individual self.
Hinduism cannot be described as an organized religion. It is not founded by any individual. Hinduism is God cent red and therefore one can call Hinduism as founded by God, because the answer to the question ?Who is behind the eternal principles and who makes them work?? will have to be ?Cosmic power, Divine power, God?
Hinduism is God cent red. Other religions are prophet cent red.
Hinduism is based upon Eternal Principles. Eternal principles apply to all human beings everywhere.
The word 'Hinduism ? does not appear anywhere in Hindu scriptures, The proper name for Hinduism is ?Sanatan Dharma? Sanatan = eternal Dharma = religion.
" Bharat Dharm Bohemia hair Evan Devtaon KO At Oriya hair"(m.k.gandhi) and" arrhythmia adharmasya tadatmanam srijamyaham" (Gita- Lord Krishna). Bharat is Hind or India. The main land of Hind or India is very unique geographically and is the only place in the world where all kinds of weather, all kinds of vegetation, all kinds of fruits and abundant water, milk is available effortlessly. Hind is the only land which provides more than enough nutritive and tasteful food of individual choice for every one, round the year. Thus the natives of Hind- called Hindus are Vegetarian. The natives of India may eat non vegetarian for taste or for change but they know that same is avoidable and hence a sin. So you see that Total Non Violence is easily and effortlessly practiced in India since times immemorial. Every body who is Indian by birth is blessed with non violence and peace, is a.Hindu , irrespective of caste and creed, and every religion practiced by them with peculiar Indian touch of non violence and peace is Hinduism. Try to compare and you will find that Indians living in India are more Hindu than those living out of India. Similar difference you will find in Indian and those living out of India, whether Muslim or Christian or Sikh or Jain or Budhs etc. So it is Mother India that makes them Indian or Hindu.
Hinduism is not founded by any one. It is an adaptation of Vedic philosophy with 'Sanskritised' way.
Language of original Veda is not known for certain. It may be a sign language or Prakrit language, God knows. Vedas have come from Himalayan region an were not so organized to established itself as an ideology or religion. In Vedas were nothing more or less then collections of 'realized utterances' by Individuals may in unorganized language or language without proper grammar.
It is possible that people living near Sindhu river, which too originates from Himalayan region, may have first to receive that Vedic knowledge among first recipients
They may have adopted Vedic ideology as understood by them. So that ideology as understood by people near Sindhu river is named after them which later on became 'Hindu ideology'.
Thus theoretically Hinduism is not established by any single individual at all nor there existed an individual by name Hindu.
If I go further to say, then at that time probably there were no other 'ideologies' around but after hundreds and thousands of years, few ideologies as if emerged from Hinduism by later scholars. of various times and places and regions.
This new emergence was inevitable because every time some thing new and changed is always coming in to people like old wine in a new bottle.
It is not easy to provide any concrete proof and what ever is informed to us, is more or less hypothesis.
Many can challenge and we have to just listen to it that is all.
The word Hindu comes from the Indus River (Sindhu in Sanskrit) in the north-west of Indian subcontinent. It was a Persian term and Arabs used to mention Al-Hind for the people who live across river Indus. There was no single founder of the religion 'Hinduism'. The people living across Sindhu river had a diverse culture, lifestyle and tradition and they were well noted for that by many rulers around the world those days. So today, Hinduism is not strictly a religion, it is rather a set of beliefs followed by different sects of people from different areas.
The term Hindu was pronounced by Persians for the term Sindhu.
Sir William Jones gave the name Hinduism now known as Hindutva.
(Sorry if I am wrong)
The British who set up the Supreme court of India wanted a name to administer
justice to Indians who are not Muslims or Christians.
The name Hinduism was given to the principles of their book.
Hindu is a Persian word for river Sindhu. People living in the Indian subcontinent were called Hindus by Persians.
There is no single founder of Hinduism. The religion is based on the Vedas, Purana's which were compiled by sages whose dates are not clear. Generally accepted around 3000 BC
Buzzzbe is very much correct. Even the Paramacharya of Kanchi, Chanrasekarendra Saraswati Swamiji, in his lectures (as compiled by Vanathi Publishers) has told that there is no religion called Hinduism or Hindu and it should be called Sanatan Dharm.
