She was originally a Brahman female, but for the of fence of bathing at an improper season she was condemned to be born as an Apsaras, for the purpose of bringing about the mutual destruction of the two demons Sunda and Upasunda.

Tilottama is an Apsara in Indra's court. In Sanskrit, Tila means sesame, and since Vishwakarma created her from from sesame seeds (on the advice of Lord Brahma), she is known as Tilottama.

Tilottama in Hindu mythology is an Apsaras. She is reputed to have been created by Vishwakarma from Tila seeds. She was responsible for bringing out the mutual destruction of the Asuras Sunda and Upsunda.
