The Qur'an is the single most important authority in all of Islam. It is the scripture given from Allah through the angel Gabriel. Does the Qur'an teach Jihad? Absolutely yes. As you will see in the following quotes from the Qur'an, Holy War is definitely taught and encouraged.
"Truly Allah loves those who fight in His Cause in battle array, as if they were a solid cemented structure" (Surah 61:4).
"Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you but do not transgress limits... 191And slay them wherever ye catch them. and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for persecution is worse than slaughter; But fight them not at the sacred Mosque unless they (first) fight you there; But if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of those who reject faith. 192 But if they cease, Allah is oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. 193And fight them on until there is no more persecution. And the religion becomes Allah's. But if they cease, Let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression" (The Qur'an, Surah 2:190-193).
"O ye who believe! what is the matter with you, that, when ye are asked to go forth in the cause of Allah, ye cling heavily to the earth? Do ye prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? But little is the comfort of this life, as compared with the Hereafter. Unless ye go forth, He will punish you with a grievous penalty, and put others in your place; but Him ye would not harm in the least. For Allah hath power over all things. Unless ye go forth, He will punish you with a grievous penalty, and put others in your place; but Him ye would not harm in the least. For Allah hath power over all things," (Surah 9:38-39).

Does anyone still not believe the Qumran teaches hate? Would you like more quotes, I give some more
Picard, the point is Jesus never taught violence in any of his teachings. We as Christains are to follow what Jesus taught in the New Testament and not the old law of the Old Testament.
Absolutely elisiolloyd
More just for you...
The Hadith are the recorded sayings and deeds of the Prophet Muhammad. It is second in authority only to the Qur'an and is often used to clarify things not specified in the Qur'an. What did Muhammad say about Jihad as recorded in the Hadith?
"The Prophet said, "The person who participates in (Holy battles) in Allah's cause and nothing compels him to do so except belief in Allah and His Apostles, will be recompensed by Allah either with a reward, or booty (if he survives) or will be admitted to Paradise (if he is killed in the battle as a martyr). Had I not found it difficult for my followers, then I would not remain behind any sariya going for Jihad and I would have loved to be martyred in Allah's cause and then made alive, and then martyred and then made alive, and then again martyred in His cause."Volume 1, Book 2, Number 35, Narrated Abu Huraira
"Allah's Apostle said, "A pious slave gets a double reward." Abu Huraira added:
if you want could you send me a mail to tell me your witness of God in your life. check this if you truly love God!! i am only just a Christian a year or so and did not believe in any spirituality at all, i believed in the big bang and all the other stuff. this was until i started to question our existence seriously and sought the meaning and ability of humanity and animal being in existence. this is when i realized that God was calling me and realized that it might very well be God who has done it all. i prayed once in sincerity an just poured myself out and immediately after i prayed what ill tell you in a moment, i knew God had heard it, a feeling in my body like tingling. i waited as we are told to for the Lord to act and was born again and witnessed to Jesus and of the power of the Gospel.
LOL..you're an idiot. Jihad does not mean Holy War...that is the first misconception. Jihad refers to struggle. Basically ones entire life is a Jihad. Struggle to better oneself...struggle to survive...and yes...struggle in a war. Rather than pulling out the individual Surah or two...read the whole Quran see it in the context it is meant to be. In fact...read those Surah's again. Fighting within limits...and only fight nonbelievers when they themselves are fighting you. It is actually against the Muslim faith to insult or attack other religions. Those that do are not true Muslims. Oh and by the way, I could fill this forum with some of the most violent and vile quotations from the Bible...does that mean the Bible preaches hate? Of course it doesn't.
Those verses are in he wholly Quran, however, obviously you didn't research about the interpretation or the circumstances in which Muslims should fight. Before attacking something, check if you really understand it first, and if you really wanna know, you can ask at WNW.islamonline.net
No where in the Bible did Jesus command his disciples to kill in the name of Jesus Christ.
You are right though, the Quran encourages it's followers to fight nonbelievers...........
Fight those who (1) believe not in Allah, (2) nor in the last day, (3) nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allah and his messenger(Muhammad) (4) And those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (IE. Islam) among the people of the scripture (Jews and Christians), until they pay the Jizyah [tax] with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.
-Surah 9:29
When Muslims use the sword, they are practicing what the Quran teaches.
The evils done by Christians were by name only. They disobeyed the word of Christ. Because of this, you will see no difference between Muslims who kill, and the Christians who kill. The difference is in whether or not they are following the example of their leader.
The fact is that every person who participated in the Crusades was going against the teachings of Christ. However, when Muslims overthrow a Government by force, they are following both the teachings and example of Muhammad.
To Taimur, let me ask you, what would happen to you if you lived in a Muslim country and try ed to convert to Christianity?
why are you using .... in between the verses... this is what the whole verse says.
"Fight in the cause of God those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for God loves not transgressors. And kill them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for persecution and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, kill them. Such is the reward of those who reject faith. But if they cease, God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in God; but if they cease, let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression. The prohibited month, for the prohibited month, and so for all things prohibited, there is the law of equality. If then any one transgresses the prohibition against you, transgress ye likewise against him. But fear (the punishment of) God, and know that God is with those who restrain themselves. And spend of your substance in the cause of Allah, and make not your own hands contribute to (your) destruction; but do good; for Allah lover those who do good." (Quran 2:190-195)
the main message of Islam is very clear
"And fight them on until there is no more Tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in God; but if they cease, Let there be no hostility except to those who practise oppression. (The Noble Quran, 2:193)"
"But if the enemy incline towards PEACE, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in God: for He is One that hearth and NorthThall things). (The Noble Quran, 8:61)"
?If they leave you alone and offer to make PEACE with you, God does not allow you to harm them.? (QURAN 4:90)
Many non-Muslims think that the term Jihad stands for "The Islamic Holy war", and this is absolutely a false concept, since it actually stands for "Striving for the sake of the God".. and striving for the sake of God, is not limited and is not boxed to be only fighting for the sake of God, rather it is way general, and can be so many other things.. for example, I am now trying to help you guys correct your wrong views on Jihad, so, this which I am doing is considered Jihad in Islam.. you see how the term Jihad is very general now?
Well, does that mean fighting for the sake of Allah is a type of Jihad, then? Well, yes, Just like David, peace and blessings be upon him.. Muslims are commanded to fight whenever they are endangered by enemies, and they are supposed to do it for the sake of God, because there is nothing more important to live and die for than God. And historically speaking, Muslims were always subject to be hit by enemies at the time of the prophet, peace be upon him, and that is why they were commanded by Allah to fight for His sake against their enemies in many verses in the Quran..
Well, What will a fighter gain if he fight and die? Admitting Paradise.. and having a pleasing eternal life.
What if Muslims have the option to stop fighting for peace? Muslims are recommended to do that, as Allah said: [8:61] But if they incline to peace, you also incline to it, and (put your) trust in All?h. Verily, He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.
And what if Muslim warriors while fighting for the sake of Allah, fine one of the enemies, and this enemy is seeking peace and protection, are they supposed to kill him for the sake of Allah?
The answer is no, why? because Allah, is the most merciful.. As He said: [9:6] And if anyone of the Mushrik?n (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of All?h) seeks your protection, then grant him protection so that he may hear the Word of All?h (the Qur?an), and then escort him to where he can be secure, that is because they are men who know not.
