why some people (Not ALL) claiming that Quran speak violence while the Bibile is full
Here it's for you to read:
(Deuteronomy 3:6-7)
"And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Hesbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children, of every city. But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities we took for a prey to ourselves."
(Deuteronomy 2:34)
"And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain."
(Ezekiel 9:5-6)
"And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and woman: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house."
(I Samuel 15:2-3)
....and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass."
The difference is, with one exception, the episodes of war and destruction in Th Bible are just that...episodes. There's no call for active, on-going violence against anyone unlike the Koran.
The exception is the commandment to destroy Amalek...and I have to ask...have you ever met an Amalekite? Didn't think so.
Because, people dint read the Coran either, and like in all thing, is one Muslim is a terrorist, or a killer, people usually say that all Muslim are, certainly this is not true!!!
Just by claiming the Koran speaks violence doesn't mean people are claiming that other books do not. If attacking the bible is your best defense of the Koran, you've got a lot of work to do, my friend.
Who said we think the Quran is violence? You must hear it from kids. Most everyone I talk to in America says only the extremist terrorists are violent, not their Quran. Yes, our Bible in the old testament had violence. Then Jesus came, in the new testament and preached peace.
I want to explain to everyone what these verses in the Koran was all about. It was about war. The Muslims were under attack from Meccans. Those verses just justify the act of defending themselves. It is written in the Koran itself that Allah loves not transgressors.
Now, I think that the questioner's argument(if there is any) is useless, since not everyone who claims the Koran is violent are Christians. And showing the Bible's violent content does not thoroughly explain the reasons why the verses in the Koran was stated by Allah.
I don't really see how that follows on; just because the Bible includes violence, doesn't mean that the Quran doesn't.
But anyway. In the New Testament Jesus reinterprets the old laws of Moses time and gives us the new 'Golden' rule to follow: Do to others what you would have them do to you.
The answer to your final question is yes, we do need more (quotations, that is, not violence!) When I began scrolling down your references I thought "Bet there won't be any from the New Testament," And I was right.
Yes, I know lots of people find it hard to come to terms with all the "utterly destroying" in the OT, but it could be seen as a prefiguring of what we are to do spiritually in the new dispensation: Put to death whatever belongs to your earthly nature, says Colossians 3:5, for example.
It is very true that the Bible tells of very violent times. Even churches of today have times in their history of violence. But of all the Churches/Religions of today, only Islam teaches their followers that if someone is not a believer (Muslim) convert them, if they won't convert, kill them.
Tabari IX:69 ?Arabs are the most noble people in lineage, the most prominent, and the best in deeds. We were the first to respond to the call of the Prophet. We are Allah?s helpers and the viziers of His Messenger. We fight people until they believe in Allah. He who believes in Allah and His Messenger has protected his life and possessions from us. As for one who disbelieves, we will fight him forever in the Cause of Allah. Killing him is a small matter to us.?
