Why don't Americans ever thank Middle Eastern people for Islam?

Well, one can thank Muslim scholars from one perspective for preserving ancient Greek text, but on the other hand, later Muslim clerics denounced such preservation and the study of non-Islamic text, and so great knowledge ended up being examined more by the Europeans than by Middle-Eastern Islamic people.

Besides increasing knowledge in some areas, what else can one thank Islam for? It wasn't exactly a religion of peace, compared to Christianity, and in areas where Islam predominated in the past, there was not as much economic development.

The Ottomans never invaded or conquered any European country that created the US, like Great Britain. Atleast not from my history knowledge. That's why America is a Christian country, not a Muslim one.
They have no reason to thank Muslims, especially when you realize the Americans and others are fighting Islam in the Middle East.
