I live in a part of the world where Christianity dominates the religious scene, and am far more familiar with Christianity, having grown up going to church and formerly being a Christian. That's my reason.
Look, as soon as a Muslim yells at me from a street corner, hands me religious leaflets, knocks on my door handing out their magazines & books, or starts legislating their ridiculous beliefs all in an attempt to convert me, I'll challenge them too.

You are right. Many (not all) of them are Islamic appeasers, the ones that bend over backwards to defend Islam. Appeasers according to Churchill are those that keep feeding the crocodile hoping it will eat them last.

"Christianity is just as violent" - as if Christians stone/behead/amputate people.

Muslims "quiver" at the thought of challenging Islam -- or, I suspect more would speak out against the extremist elements! (Look what happens to people who do! Fatwas or worse. Dutch author/ filmmaker Theo Van Gogh -- yes a relation of THAT Van Gogh! -- was stabbed to death in an Amsterdam street because some Muslim fanatic took exception to Van Gogh's questioning the Muslim oppression of women!) Author Salman Rushdie spent years under guard and in hiding because his novel The Satanic Verses "offended" an imam (so a fatwa was put on Rushdie's head).
And, as far as "demonizing" goes, what do you call that last sentence of yours?
