1) I think that most military and tactician experts would dismiss this scenario entirely. However if these two countries were to fluke out by some miracle and conquer the US, people would initially be shocked and horrified walking around in a daze like zombies for a spell.
2) The Koran says forced conversions are no conversions so I would not see this happening as most Americans are "children of the book". They'd probably have to pay that Dhimmi tax though.

Bear in mind that each of the states can operate as a separate country and there are those vast amounts of firearms and weapons privately owned thanks to their 4Th amendment. You see what has happening in occupied Iraq and Afghanistan currently. Try and imagine the trouble occupying forces would have there given the arms situation as well as many private militia groups. Their stay would be miserable.
