In Islam, what if a husband pushes his wife over the edge?
I hear all these excuses for why it is okay to beat your wife because she may be 'spoiled', 'unruly', 'loud', 'lazy', 'talks back', etc. She may pester her husband or 'push him' too far to do that and cause him to beat her. While I can't tolerate people who pester, rant, and drive everyone up the walls, I don't think the deserve to be beaten.
What if the wife is 'obedient' and does everything her husband asks? What if the HUSBAND is the irritable one who rants and complains about everything and drives the wife up the wall? What if he screams about her not ironing his tie the right way or at all, what if he rants about her not having dinner done yet, or beats her for not washing the dishes properly? What if the wife reaches her breaking point, grabs the nearest sharp or blunt object and stabs or beats her husband to death in a fit of rage? And what if she did that while he was beating/attacking HER? In the US that might be considered self defense but what about in the Islamic religion?
Would she be seen as a horrible monster for killing her 'poor husband'? Would she be stoned to death? Would the husband ever be at fault at all? For anything? Are husbands ever at fault and do they ever get severe punishments for crimes against their wives?
