Default What was the state of Islam like before Al-Ghazali was born?

Come on guys this is important, if you dint know it,dint talk. Al-Ghazali was a famous Islamic theologian, philosopher, jurist, exciters
I want to learn, Hts my point. I want to see how the Muslim state was before GazaAlime. Before ghazali ad a major impact in islam.

It was the time when Islam peaked, Baghdad was the center of knowledge. Then Muslims started to enjoy their wealth and that is when every Empire starts to falter.
