Default I understand that Pork is not tolerated within Islam but.........?

What about actual pigs, the animal, are they offensive? I personally don't eat any creatures as I believe them to be sacred but would someone of the Islamic faith be offended if she/he encountered such a creature? And Why? Thanks!
See, any time time I mention that I am fond of the animals people tell that they are horrible and dirty but I think they are cute and maybe a little messy but I like them, obviously I would never eat then but that's because I think it's wrong and greedy to kill an animal for food!
But surely, all this putrid mess and dirt you are talking about is created by humans putting the poor pigs in that situation, where are they supposed to defecate? What I am asking is if the actual creatures as nature intended then would offend a Muslim if encountered?
Human well wisher, thanks, but you are not really answering my question. Anyhow if we were supposed to eat meat then why are we not equipped to catch an animal ourselves and eat raw meat? Raw meat would make us very sick especially chicken which can be deadly if eaten raw.

Lets have a look at the facts here:

Intestinal tract length. Carnivorous animals have intestinal tracts that are 3-6x their body length, while herbivores have intestinal tracts 10-12x their body length. Human beings have the same intestinal tract ratio as herbivores.
Stomach acidity. Carnivores? stomachs are 20x more acidic than the stomachs of herbivores. Human stomach acidity matches that of herbivores.
Saliva. The saliva of carnivores is acidic. The saliva of herbivores is alkaline, which helps Prue-digest plant foods. Human saliva is alkaline.
Shape of intestines. Carnivore bowels are smooth, shaped like a pipe, so meat passes through quickly ? they don?t have bumps or pockets. Herbivore bowels are bumpy and poi
pouch-like with lots of pockets, like a windy mountain road, so plant foods pass through slowly for optimal nutrient absorption. Human bowels have the same characteristics as those of herbivores.
Fiber. Carnivores don?t require fiber to help move food through their short and smooth digestive tracts. Herbivores require dietary fiber to move food through their long and bumpy digestive tracts, to prevent the bowels from becoming clogged with rotting food. Humans have the same requirement as herbivores.
Cholesterol. Cholesterol is not a problem for a carnivore?s digestive system. A carnivore such as a cat can handle a high-cholesterol diet without negative health consequences. A human cannot. Humans have zero dietary need for cholesterol because our bodies manufacture all we need. Cholesterol is only found in animal foods, never in plant foods. A plant-based diet is by definition cholesterol-free.
Claws and teeth. Carnivores have claws, sharp front teeth capable of subduing prey, and no fl
and no flat molars for chewing. Herbivores have no claws or sharp front teeth capable of subduing prey, but they have flat molars for chewing. Humans have the same characteristics as herbivores.

You will also observe that human so called canine teeth are completely useless and tearing flesh, why do you think we use a knife and fork?

Allah created everything, including pigs. Why would they be offensive? Pigs are cool.

It's just that we have certain guidelines that we have to follow, but it doesn't mean we should torture pigs or anything. Poor creatures. Islam advocates animal rights.

So just because we don't voluntarily touch pigs or anything like that, it doesn't mean we think they're evil or anything. We are only forbidden to touch or eat them considering the fact that they are nags [unclean].

the pigs are dirty because of what they do. but if you see a hungry pig, or a thirsty one, or a pig who needs shelter, you should help them out. i remember someone telling me about a dog being thirsty and this women gave him water and she got Janna. so no matter who it is, when someone is in need, whether your neighbor, pig, dog, anyone, you should help them out with the best you can

I like and respect all animals too and I am a life time member of PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) We must be kind to all animals including pigs and it is a requirement in Islam. Muslims and Jews do not eat of pig because of some religious prohibitions. Quran, however, does make an exception to eating pork if it is to avoid death or serious harm.

1. Pork-prohibited in Qur?an

The Qur?an prohibits the consumption of pork in no less than 4 different places. Its prohibited in 2:173, 5:3, 6:145 and 16:115.

Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked a name other than that of Allah. [Al-Qur?an 5:3] The above verses of the Holy Qur?an are sufficient to satisfy a Muslim as to why pork is forbidden.

2. Pork prohibited in the Bible

The Christian is likely to be convinced by his religious scriptures. The Bible prohibits the consumption of pork, in the book of Leviticus and the swine, as he divider the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he chewer not the cud; he is unclean to you. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch, they are unclean to you. Leviticus chapter 11 verse 7 and 8:
Pork is also prohibited in the book of Deuteronomy

And the swine, because it divider the hoof, yet chewer not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass. Deuteronomy chapter 14 verse 8:

A similar prohibition is repeated in the book of Isaiah chapter 65 verse 2-5.

3. Consumption of pork causes several diseases

The other non-Muslims and atheists will agree only if convinced through reason, logic and science. Eating of pork can cause no less than seventy different types of diseases. A person can have various Helminthes, like roundworm, pin worm, hookworm, etc. One of the most dangerous is Taenia Solium, which in a layman?s terminology is called tapeworm. It harbours in the intestine and is very long. Its ova i.e. eggs, enter the blood stream and can reach almost all the organs of the body. If it enters the brain it can cause memory loss. If it enters the heart it can cause heart attack and if it enters the eye it can cause blindness. If it enters the liver it can cause liver damage. It can damage almost all the organs of the body.

Another dangerous helminthes is Taenia Tichurasis. A common misconception about pork is that if it is cooked well, these ova die. In a research project undertaken in America, it was found that out of twenty-four people suffering from

Taenia tichurasis, twenty two had cooked the pork very well. This indicates that the ovas present in the pork do not die under normal cooking temperature.

4. Pork has fat building material

Pork has very little muscle building material and contains excess of fat. This fat gets deposited in the vessels and can cause hypertension and heart attack. It is not surprising that over 50% of Americans suffer from hypertension.

5. Pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth

The pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth. It lives and thrives on muck, faeces and dirt. It is the best scavenger that I know that God has produced. In the villages they don?t have modern toilets and the villagers excrete in the open air. Very often excreta is cleared by pigs.

Some may argue that in advanced countries like Australia, pigs are bred in very clean and hygienic conditions. Even in these hygienic conditions the pigs are kept together in sties. No matter how hard you try to keep them clean they are filthy by nature. They eat and enjoy their own as well as their neighbour?s excreta.

6. Pig is the most shameless animal

The pig is the most shameless animal on the face of the earth. It is the only animal that invites its friends to have sex with its mate. It feels no jealousy. And among people who consume pork, the practice of wife swapping and other forms of promiscuous behaviour is common.

Pigs are known to eat their own feces and even human feces and their bodies contain many toxins, worms and latent diseases
A pig farm with 5,000 animals produces as much fecal waste as a city of 50,000 people. In 1995, 25 million gallons of putrid hog urine and feces spilled into a North Carolina river, immediately killing between 10 and 14 million fish. To get around water pollution limits, factory farms will frequently take the tons of urine and feces that are stored in cesspools and turn them into liquid waste that they spray into the air. This manure-filled mist is carried away by the wind and inhaled by the people who live nearby.

Also something like 70 percent of pigs have pneumonia by the time they're sent to the slaughterhouse.

http://www.onlinetruth.org/Articles%20Folder/eating_pork_can_be_hazardous_to.htm

Besides that, I think they are disgusting ,But they are part of Gods creation and everything has a purpose.
As a Muslim, I wouldn't let the animal suffer.... like last summer I had to free a frail, skeleton like wild boar that had it's legs stuck in tree roots cause no one else was around.

saw a video on you tube where a group of Spaniards who didn't want a mosque built in their town buried a pig in the middle of the empty lot. Muslims dumped construction plans.

also the British buried Muslim terrorists (during the empire) with pigs to keep them from getting to virgin-bonking paradise. was a big disincentive for Muslims.

Qur?an permits Muslims to have non-vegetarian food
The Qur?an, however permits a Muslim to have non-vegetarian food. The following Qur?Anica verses are proof of this fact:
"O ye who believe! Fulfil (all) obligations. Lawful unto you (for food) are all four-footed animals with the exceptions named."
[Al-Qur?an 5:1]
"And cattle He has created for you (men): from them Ye derive warmth, and numerous benefits, And of their (meat) ye eat."
[Al-Qur?an 16:5]
"And in cattle (too) ye have an instructive example: From within their bodies We produce (milk) for you to drink; there are, in them, (besides), numerous (other) benefits for you; and of their (meat) ye eat."
[Al-Qur?an 23:21]

If you observe the teeth of herbivorous animals like the cow, goat and sheep, you will find something strikingly similar in all of them. All these animals have a set of flat teeth i.e. suited for herbivorous diet. If you observe the set of teeth of the carnivorous animals like the lion, tiger, or leopard, they all have a set of pointed teeth i.e. suited for a carnivorous diet. If you analyze the set of teeth of humans, you find that they have flat teeth as well as pointed teeth. Thus they have teeth suited for both herbivorous as well as carnivorous food i.e. they are omnivorous. One may ask, if Almighty God wanted humans to have only vegetables, why did He provide us also with pointed teeth? It is logical that He expected us to need and to have both vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian food. The digestive system of herbivorous animals can digest only vegetables. The digestive system of carnivorous animals can digest only meat. But the digestive system of humans can digest both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. If Almighty God wanted us to have only vegetables then why Certain religions have adopted pure vegetarianism as a dietary law because they are totally against the killing of living creatures. In the past people thought plants were lifeless. Today it is a universal fact that even plants have life. Thus their logic of not killing living creatures is not fulfilled even by being a pure vegetarian.Did He give us a digestive system that can digest both vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian food?
