Default Has love for Imam Hussain(as) been made obligatory in the Quran?

'..Say: "No reward do I ask of you for this except the love of those near of kin."..'

- Quran 42:23

Yes it has been made obligatory... but he who loves Imam Hussain (a.s) regardless is a true believer I think... we love him like the free... and with our entire soul...

anyways... this question reminds me of a quote from Imam Hussain (a.s)...
?Some people worship God to gain His gifts; this is the worship of the merchants. Some worship Him to avoid His punishment; this is the worship of the slaves. Some worship Him solely to show gratitude towards Him; this is the worship of the free!?

I want to believe that I worship God like a free... and also that I love the Prophet (pub&hf) and his Ahl-e-Bait like a free...
