Default Is Islam anti-human rights?

I'm not trying to sound Islamophobic, I strongly believe in tolerance. However it seems to me that Islam and tolerance never go hand in hand.

Every country where Islam is the dominate religion tolerance is thrown out the window. Even people who are not Muslims must adhere to Islamic dress codes, etc.

In the Southwest Asia (Middle East) and Southeast Asia where Islam is a dominate religion in most areas, there is no tolerance for a lifestyle deemed "inherently sinful" according to Islam. Women's rights are severely suppressed in those areas, and gay and lesbian people face death for even revealing their sexual orientation, regardless of whether they are in a same sex relationship or not.

Other religions like Judaism and Christianity, while at the very least tolerated to some extent, are still discriminated against harshly.

I'm not saying Christians don't do their fair share of discriminating, but they don't make it law. In countries dominated by Islam, the Islamic religion becomes law via Sharia Law.

I'm sorry for coming across as very intolerant, but I am a feminist and big gay rights supporter and I just don't see how Islam, if in power, will ever allow gays, lesbians, women, or religion minorities to have their basic human rights. It seems every nation that Islam is the dominate religion, these rights are repeatedly violated by the Islamic government.

There are major exceptions to that in turkey and Indonesia, of course.

Extreme religion of any kind is bad for human rights.

No!!!

Just ignore the honor killings, suicide bombers, be headings, hysterectomies, terrorist attacks and planes ramming skyscrapers.

They are the religion of peace.

No. Any Abrahamic religion, when strictly followed, is anti-human rights. Christianity, at its root is anti-human rights and anti-freedom, but not many Christians are strict (nor will they put up with it) so you don't see this...many Muslims are strict, which is why it seems anti-human......most American Muslims are no different from christian Americans in that they wear bikinis, don't pray every 5 minutes, believe in secularism, etc. It really depends on the culture you are raised in.

With Islam everything revolves around God. So any human right issue takes a back seat if it's against the law of God. If their God said a women must cover their entire body from head to toe, it doesn't matter if it is 100? degrees out side. She must be punished for disobeying God.

Islam is about 700 years younger than Christianity. Take a look back 700 years, 600 years, 500 years and then, let's talk about the tolerance of Christianity in those days. Let's talk about Ferdinand and Isabella, the Spanish Inquisition (nobody expects it), Queen Mary Tudor, King Henry VIII and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Heck, lets talk about Rome and the Holocaust. Let's talk about US immigration policy and European Jews in the 1930s.

I'm not a fan of Islam but I'm also not a fan of Christianity. Neither are especially tolerant. At least Islam has the excuse of youth.

Well..With the whole gay/lesbian rights..that's with every religion.NOT just Islam.

Now about Human Rights and Islam...the laws that are put are there for a reason..For example, many people believe that the dress codes for women equal oppression..but in reality they are there to decrease lust and adultery. Do you want other men looking at your wife/mother/daughter/sister??..If everyone covered themselves fully..there wouldn't be problems such as rape and cheating.

And I believe that people are NOT giving Muslims their basic human rights..for example, a Jewish man who grows out his beard is looked upon as a religious man..however if a Muslim man was to grow his beard he would be labeled a terrorist.
