Default How would Islam punish an Islamic child that drew a picture of the Prophet Muhammad?

Please no rhetoric, I am not interested in opinions, just facts, if you have examples please link them.
I have read all of your answers and appreciate them all. I would probably choose Iraqi Ex-Muslim Abroad as the best answer since he went into alto of detail and gave a link to a site that reiterated what he said. However since I do not have the appropriate knowledge to make a wise choice I leave this decision up to the community.

Nope. Punishment in Islam isn't for the underage children. In Islam, we teach child not draw the Prophet. Because its forbidden in Islam. It's like you trying to make a copy of him but without the soul, the mind and the attitude.

you should burn what he drew and teach him that it is ha ram. he should be able to understand after you teach him. if not then hit him (not in a violent way), just so that he can understand that it very is wrong.

there's no punishment for the child because he don't understand what adults do. only the child need to be educated so, because drawing the prophet can lead to worship ping the prophet, and that would be contrary with his teachings believe in one God.

prophet Muhammad(PBUH) told us in close words

be respectful for the elder people and be merciful and compassionate with the younger ones

which are the kids

so we will overcome it and we should tell this child it is wrong to do so

i think he will understand better and faster than the Danes

Well, I guess beating will not be away. however, what would someone do to a child of not his own? In Islmic countries some allow beatings which some restrict to light and some leave it just like a child owned by parent. Iraqi penal code (which is not Islamic) made it crime only if it is light and for educating by parents only. however, it isn't much in application. I saw many Marcile's parents who beat their children hardly and for very simple things. I don't know what would parents do for one who draw picture of Muhammed, but probably will depend on parents. but you can see that justifying beating came from Muhammed traditions as in here: http://muttaqun.com/childrenframe.html

"Hadith - Dawud, Narrated As-Saburah

[Also recorded by Ahmand and AL-Hakim. Al-Syuti has give in a notation signifying that it is authentic. Al-Albani has graded it hasan. Al-Albani, Sahih al-Jami, vol. 2, p. 1021.]

The Prophet said: Order your children to pray at the age of seven. And beat them [lightly] if they do not do so by the age of ten. And separate them in their bedding.

Hadith - Bukhari 3:734, Narrated Abu Huraira

The Prophet said, "If somebody fights (or beats somebody) then he should avoid the face."

It is permissible to admonish a child that is not your own... "

Notice that Muhammed who suppose to be messenger of God order parents to hit their children for pray which made lots of doubt for me if Islam about ideas or about forcing non-sense rituals!! and note that the translator added "[light]" and put it between brackets. the tradition doesn't have this word, but probably the translator wanna refine the hadith. however, Muhammed recorded also prohibitng beating on the face but for general. the interesting thing he didn't prohibit beating between adults at all, but if fighting have to be done, avoid face!!

Your question is uch a great, cuz it should give ppl thoughts of their reaction to the cartoonists. so Muslims children could draw Muhammed picures, are Muslims going to kill their children? if they don't, so why? isn't because child don't know this is prohibited? if so, why some Muslims outraged, burned embassies, threatenen cartoonists with death? isn't the cartoonists have not knowlesge that this is banned in Islam and Islam would revenge from them, and their laws in their countries will nevre be respected by some Muslims?

I urge brother Muslims to reconsider their reaction and announce loudly and clearly denouncing souch violence and cleanse hate from thier souls and start to establish understanding, love and treat each other with love like children between themselves. we are children of God.
