I mean while at school it seemed like my religion that was the only one even the teachers never heard of, or never taught. When someone asked me and I said I'm Jain they looked confused.
Aaron: I am in London, and rarely any of us wear veils. At least I have seen no one wear one.
I didn't hear about it until like last year. It's an eastern religion but I think it's because the schools don't teach religion classes. I think they should. It'd be fun.
Cox the Jains didn't market their religion properly. get better marketing guys for your religion, focus, have a business plan made, and you might make you religion famous in a few 100 centuries, like the rest.
I'm not sure about no one! it's a large and vital religion, although not in the west.
if you go to India, do check out some of the Jain temples, they're quite beautiful (my favorite in Ranakpur)
it is because Jainism is only heard and taught by Indian-History teachers. Jainism is not that spread throughout the world like Hinduism. Jain and Hindu are mostly in India and parts of South Asia.
------------------------------------
Jainism (pronounced in English as [DE.n?zm?]), traditionally known as Jain Dharma (A A), is a religion and philosophy originating in Ancient India with the teachings of Mahavira (ca. 6Th century BC). A minority in modern India, with growing immigrant communities in the United States, Western Europe, Africa, the Far East and elsewhere, Jains continue to sustain the ancient Shraman (S's) or ascetic tradition.
Jains have significantly influenced the religious, ethical, political and economic spheres in India for more than two millennia. Jainism stresses spiritual independence and equality of all life with particular emphasis on non-violence. Self-control (????, vratae) is vital for attaining Keval Gnan and eventually moksha, or realization of the soul's true nature.
Jainism does not preach, as Christianity.
It does not restrict human intelligence to a book, so it is not famous as Islam.
People dint find Jainism so int resting even though they come ac cross, because it is strictly vegetarian.
I think it's just because there aren't very many Jains in the world. Like 4 million in the entire world... not very many if you think about the other major religions.
There aren't a lot of people who practice any Dharmic religion either, most of the world practices Abrahamic religions.
It's just your job to enlighten everyone! Good Luck!
