Definitely not. Jainism and Buddhism are older than Islam but historically there were more wars fought in the name of Islam (and of Christianity) than in the name of Jainism or Buddhism, but that does not mean that Buddhists are less aggressive. They just don't use religion as an excuse to fight
Jainism and Buddhism don't give clear directions on how to live ones life. They don't give punishments when wrongs are committed. Islam does.
This means that society remains calm and peaceful because people are punished for crimes. It means that social order isn't disrupted because people don't think they can do what they want and get away with it. Islam is peaceful, but even more than that, Islam is just, Islam knows human nature and Islam is based on controlling our desires
The meaning of Islam is 'surrender' or 'submission'.
And asking this in the Ramadan section, of course you are going to get biased answers.
That being said, I don't think any one religion can be declared more peaceful than the others. Peace is subjective. One person's idea of heaven might be another person's idea of hell.
If it was practiced properly and not influenced by culture, then I believe Yes it would.
Unfortuanetly it's misinterpreted by some, and mixed with cut lure by many. But the ones who truly follow Islam properly without these, you will find are very peaceful people.
The Buddha of Bamyan, 1500 year old, archaeological and historically significant was intentionally dynamited and destroyed in 2001 by the Taliban after the Taliban government declared that they were "idols" (which are forbidden under Sharia law). International opinion strongly condemned the destruction of the Buddhas and was viewed as an example of the intolerance of the Taliban and of fundamentalist Islam.
How did the Buddhist respond to this Blashphemy and insult wold wide ???
Non - Violence. Plain protests and sadness
Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten on 30 September 2005. posted insulting cartoon about Prohpet Mohammad.
How did the Muslims respond worldwide ?
This led to protests across the Muslim world, some of which escalated into violence with police firing on the crowds (resulting in more than 100 deaths, altogether),[1] including setting fire to the Danish Embassies in Syria, Lebanon and Iran, storming European buildings, and desecrating the Danish, Dutch, Norwegian and German flags in Gaza City. Deat threats and at temp to murder. etc etc.
I think this answers which religion is most peace full.
One doesn't have to study holy books and commentaries to know which religion is more peaceful; which religion does more to promote peace.
All one has to do is look at the newspapers. While Buddhists do deal with aggression just like other human beings do, there are no murders, wars, and terror attacks in the name of the Buddha.
The Buddha enjoined this upon his followers: "Paanatipaanaa VerinaNiikkha-padam samaadiyaami." --I vow to accept the training of refraining from killing.
In Buddhism, there is no justified killing. There is no righteous war. While there are examples of where Buddhists have acted violently, these are always violations of one of Buddhism's central tenets: NO VIOLENCE.
