Do You Agree That Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism & Jainism Should Officially Combine The
I am of the persuasion that they are all part of the same religion anyway ,but do you agree with me that they should formally and officially become one religion. They were all founded by Hindus and they all teach Hindu philosophy and scripture.
Malika, in your dreams
that's because you do not have the wisdom to see
...

..
Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
Let me be honest and say 'no'. To me Jainism is not a religion, it is more like a tradition. I used to call myself Hindu. My family says we are Hindu. But when it comes down to our customs and some of our beliefs and practices, I don't feel like a Hindu. I have a lot of Hindu friends so I know how it feels. When their festivals come, and when they do their fasting, I do not know what is going on. When our customs come, they do not know whats going on.
Edit: It is also those little things I notice. For example, in a Hindu wedding the couple must walk seven times round the fire. In a Jain wedding, the couple walks 4 times round the fire. The differences may be quite minor but they are noticeable. So trying to combine them will bring an awful lot of confusion.
only if you also be live that catholics, baptists, church of England, Episcopals, Lutherans, and every other kind of Christianity should all be lumped together. while we're at it, let's add Islamic and Jewish people into that mix. same God, right?
just because they were founded the same way doesn't mean they're practiced the same or that they are interchangeable.
Who needs our acceptance for this ?
who accepts this suggestion? all Th isms other than the Hinduism , loose the status of minorities and consequent quotas in reservation in so many things .Donot you think that one who suggests this will be accused that the suggestion is the contrivance of the Hindus for some selfish gains?
the otter parties will come with the biggest poles and lethal weapons and demonstrate aginst such a suggestion , like the gujjars .
Honestly, why don't you go ahead and do that if you want, you don't need Antone's permission. For all we know they are all as one "religion" somewhere. I'm of the firm belief that no two people on earth share the same ideology, not even the people who claim to be part of the same religion and/or religious branch. We all look at things, life, our whole existence differently. So if you personally feel these religions/ideologies fall under your perception of reality, then by all means, feel free to name the group yourself.
I just recently found out that a good friend of mine is trying to argue that there is such a thing as atheistic Christians. I found that pretty absurd, but after listening to what that actually entailed (Appreciating the values of Jesus Christ, but denying the existence of God) I found it much more bearable to swallow. And I'm sure there are no shortage of people who fall under that category.
So to sum it up, if you can find a religion/ideology you appreciate, great. If you can't, feel free to define your own beliefs.
Though the roots are same, you should try to understand the reasons behind their birth. All religion have their own loopholes , you cant even dream to combine them as very first the Political systems of many countries would collapse due to outcry and result.
It would bring lots of unrest through out the world, as you know that even if you are right there are hardly any taker/supporter for it. Its always better not to finger any one on religious matter.
yeah! these all should be merged back as they were in ancient time. these are not the religion basically.these all are from Hinduism. different saints established their thoughts among the people and that was accepted by the people. but people started to worship that saint. they think that they are not Hindus. that's wrong we all are in same religion and Ti's Hinduism only.
Agreed that Buddhism, Sikhism & Jainism are offshoots of Hinduism and their teachings are closer to Hinduism. But the fact remains that they are different in their beliefs and teachings which came into being as a reform to the then existent prevalent Hindu concepts and practices. Over the time they have evolved into full fledged religions with a commanding following.
To merge these into Hinduism is against the very spirit of Hinduism which gives its followers the freedom to worship God as they want to. It is because of this basic nature of Hinduism that these religions came into existence and survived. Respect for everyone way to find God is the soul of Hinduism. To want an official merger of other religions will only cause chaos.
Teachings of all these religions are overlapping more or less.
In India, their followers appear similar in general. But if U consider the Chinese, Japs& SLankan Budhdhhists, they may resist such a suggestion.
Since Hinduism is not assertive enough in India, even the mild Jains , who see how the Muslim minority is blackmailing the Indian Govt & getting undue benefits from the anti Hindu Congress Govt, R claiming a minority status.
There should not be any problem if everyone is ready to sublime and merge individual smaller 'Ego's into big one of Aryan Culture making it more strong, progressive and rational. After this merger the words Hindu, Bauddha, Sikh & Jain should disappear permanently.
Buddhism and to some less extent Sikhism and Jainism have gone too far jot think of Reunion.
It is enough if they understand we have much in common to cherish and to start with, join forces in driving away foreign religions from Asia.The rest will start happening.
Sikhism is NOT a religion, it is a Universalistic Philosophy belonging to all schools of thought or religions and people. In fact, there is no such thing as "ism" in Sikhi*. "ism" is a suffix that we folks added to Sikhi (Learning Process).
Also, Sikhs do not go around converting others because Almighty does all, and it is a foolish thing to do. There is no such thing as "convert" or "religion" or "groups" in Sikhism, rather it is the embracing of EVERYTHING (God)...everything that God created and learning from it. God did not create only those religions or things you are interested in. The word "Sikh" means "learner". Notice that this word premeditates upon open-mindedness, diversity, understanding and acceptance of all possible issues which may arise in any given situation or time.
Sikhism states that the initial purpose of all religions is divine, but religion as we perceive it is a curse, because it creates duality (separation) amongst us humans and all created phenomenon. Therefore, there is only ONE Almighty Truth (God) for ALL no matter what school of thought one prescribes to.
Again, the very word "Sikh" has an unequivocal meaning, "Learner." Every person who is breathing now, or even those who are in the womb, know that s/he is a "learner". This whole world is created for our own Sikhi (Learning process). In this process, we are to treat all life with respect, tolerance for all religions/school of thoughts, equality and justice and find sustenance in serving all humans humbly--while at the same time "Learning" (Sikh) from their religion /knowledge /experiences... etc.--yet remaining true to the same Universal goodness of the heart which is immanent within all.
How did Guru Nanak reply to people like you who ask such questions? He said, "there is no Muslim, no Hindu". Those who are pure in the heart (Khalsa) know for sure that there is no such thing as you Muslim, you Hindu, he Christian, she Jewish, you this, them that, me THIS. Guru Nanak eliminated the ego and duality in people and made them realize that we are all walking on the same floor---as Learners (Sikhs).
All are different as chalk and cheese.
Buddhism and Jainism do not believe in God.
Sikhism is monotheistic like Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
Hinduism is polytheistic.
Hence though there are similarities between Buddhism and Jainism, it has little to do with Hinduism.
Sikhism, though born in India, is unlike others and is more akin to Abrahamic religions.
None of the religions teach Hindu scripture. Sikhism says, "Ram Raheem Puran Quran Janek Kathe mat eke Na man yo" - meaning Ram and Rahim, the Puran and Quran say a lot, but I believe is not one of what they say.
Each tradition finds different answers to the questions its founders ask. Buddhism, Sikhism and Jainism each arose because someone believed Hinduism was not responsive to his concerns. I don't know enough about Sikhism, but Buddhism and Jainism both provide approaches to life which might be useful, but are difficult for me to accept because of my own religious traditions.
