question about customs in jainism ?

my friend who is Jain puts Chanda Tina on his forehead as well as in his navel. I asked him why he said it gives coolness to stomach. Should we do this or tell him not to do so ?. Whit is the significance of Chanda Tina

More importantly, is it hurting anyone?

tell him to choose the trinity!!!!!

There is nothing wrong with it.

He wants it, then let him do it.

Why do you want to stop him ?

One should not interfere much in others' matters, until the other fellow asks for.

The ChandaNaas used a lot by ancient Indians as a cooling agent. If it part of his custom, then why do we have to ask him to stop doing what he is doing!!! If we stop following our own customs, then, how can it survive. Actually, Jainism was followed only because those set of people did not appreciate the rituals and customs of the Hindus. So, if a thing like that is followed by him, then, it must have some medicinal background. Did you know that India is the birth place of surgery?
