Default How is the swastika related to Jainism?

Please explain this in a way someone who doesn't know much about Jainism would understand ('Cu's I don't =P).
I know it's a symbol used the by Nazis, Hindus, and Buddhists...but I wanna know what the Jainists think of the swastika.
Hitler didn't invent the swastika (to the people who are comment in' that).
When Hitler flipped it the other way around, in Hinduism, facing' left represents the involution of the universe. Coincidence?

The swastika used by the German National Socialists was nothing more than an adaptation of the Kaiser's cross from WW I.

Hitler apparently 'created' the Swastika as an image meaning:

The Unconquerable.

In terms of a connection, I'm unsure. sorry

The swastika is a symbol used all through India, mostly by Hindus but maybe by Jains too. They were using it for many centuries before Hitler came around. It was even used in Europe. There were British medals of hon our bearing the swastika. Then Hitler turned it into a symbol of hate in Europe, but in India it retains its original meanings.

This has a ton of info. The word itself had to do with luck before the Nazis got a hold of it. If I am not mistaken the Nazis flipped it the other way as well.

Here is a better page that is just on Jainism.

It's one of the holiest Jain symbols. Jain holy books have to contain swastikas, and many Jain ceremonies begin and end with swastikas being drawn out in rice. In temples, Jains spread out offerings for gods in the shapes of swastikas. The swastika is also the symbol for the seventh saint, the Tirthankara Suparsva.

EDIT: The swastika is also a representation of the cycle of birth and rebirth, and a symbol for the four pillars of Jain Sangh, the Jain religion and the path of liberation. The pillars are shrivels and shrikes (male and female lay people) and sadhus and sadhus (monks and nuns who have taken vows and are actively working toward enlightenment).

Swastika actual origination is from India. This symbol is used in many religions especially in Jainism, and Hinduism where it is given utmost importance.

In Jainism, Swastika represents

(a) the four place in this whole universe where a soul take birth (marked with red dots in counter-clock wise starting from Right top corner) they are Dev Lok (Angels/Gods), Manushya Lok (Human), Tiryanch Lok (Animals, Birds, Fish, Plants), Narka Lok (Hellish Being)

(b) and three means by which a soul can bypass the never-ending cycle of birth-death (marked with green dots) means Darshan (Right Faith), Gyan (Right Knowledge), Charitra (Right Conduct)

(c) and the abode where all the liberated souls rest (marked with yellow dots) is known as 'Siddhashila'.

Here is the actual image of Swastika as represented in Jainism http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/14/Swastik4.svg

Although Swastika may be represented in Hinduism in bit different way, but more or less its meaning is quite similar in Hinduism or in Jainism.

For perfect explanation go to this web page, and read from fourth paragraph http://www.jainworld.com/education/jainsymbol.htm

Some additional source might help you for better understanding http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika
