To be able to do ones laundry in a way that keeps your clothes soft but without using fabric softener...

It comes down to 2 of the core beliefs of Jainism.

1. Every soul is born as a celestial, human, sub-human or hellish being according to its own karma's.
2. When a soul is freed from karma's, it becomes free and attains divine consciousness, experiencing infinite knowledge, perception, power, and bliss.
