Jainism is a way of life, you can follow Jainism. If you follow;
1. Non- violence by word, action and deed. Never be violent towards any living beings, including all animals and plants (except to sustain your life) directly or indirectly, nor approve of any violence.
2. Be truthful
3. Do not steal
4. Celibacy (any excessive indulgence of all the five sense organs)
5. Self restraint in every aspect of your life.

If you are doing all the above to the best of your ability you are a Jain.

As indicated by previous responders, there is nothing specific to do (i.e., "baptism") in terms of converting to Jainism other than to understand Jain principles (Trevelyan) and abide by them to the best of ones abilities. If you want to understand Jain Trevelyan there is one easy-to-understand book in English that I can suggest: Jain Tatvaparichay by Dr. Ujjwala Shah. It is not available in bookstores in USA but we can help you get a copy. (Note that there is a whole lot of literature available on Jainism in English but books that can give one true understanding of Jain principles are very few--actually very rare. Most give one "conventional" wisdom on Jainism which may not get one closer to the true Jainism.)
