Jainism is just too impractical. You can live a pretty normal life and be a Buddhist.

The Christians will hate you even more because they have never heard of Jainism

I never heard of a single Jain who wasn't of Gujarati Indian ethnicity.

I'm not even sure if Jains take converts.

Buddhists definitely take converts.

you don't ''pick'' a religion you choose to follow it because you believe in its teachings/beliefs.

i don't know enough of Jainism to comment on it though, i suggest reading into both Jainism Taoism & Buddhism if you have the time (or just one of them) to get an overview of their differences & similarities in teachings

Interesting! You asked.

I kind of agree with the guy ?Disentegrated by the rising sun?.
You can try to practice some Buddhism principles and see if you like it.

As you may already know, Buddhism is really not a ?religion?, even though it has religious functions.

It?s really the way of living or the way of practicing toward Buddhahood.
(Become Buddha)

Every being has the same true nature of becoming Buddha someday.
It dozen?t really matter who you are, what religion you have, what ethnic/cultural background you are, etc.

Here are some Buddhism materials: video, audio, text, etc.
http://www.drba.org/dharma/
http://www.dharmadrumretreat.org/teachings.php

This below link has on line web cast classes on every Friday and Saturday. http://www.bttsonline.org/Webcast.aspx

Just read/hear/see some of these materials.

If these principles make sense to you, you may have found your spiritual path.

The question itself states that you are a seeker! Great!

Buddhism and Jainism are religions. You can follow a religion because you are born in a family that follows it. Or you can follow it if you love what it preaches. Either way it is fine.

Religions preach different things (and of course going into the details won't be the right thing to do, here) and all of them have more or less a common goal. Religions came into existence during different times (on earth) of the human lives and in different parts of the world. It would be inappropriate to compare them.

You can look at it as different roads to the same destination! Choose the one you are more comfortable with!

Having said that, Buddhism and Jainism have lots of things in common. Lots of things come from ancient Upanishads / Vedas.

Choosing either would be fine!
