Default What are the reasons for unpopularity of Jainism?

Although even after much publicity, what do you think why the Jainism is still unsuccessful religion in India in comparison to other and also that many of its principles are unknown to world even?

The premise of your question is, generally speaking, FALSE.

There are many reasons for that

1. Jainism prefers to clear karma by doing it self not by propagating the same.

2. Jainism gives light to belief to the people who believe on the Karma Theory and there are very few available to believe that.

3. Jainism are available worldwide but they never protest things like other religion people do.

Thats why Jainism is not popular but whoever has known Jainism their life style has changed its a proof.

first reason was due to impracticality of Jainism - come on people should be a Bel to follow it.

secondly violent Hinduism suppressed Jainism and Buddhism like how it suppressed Sikhism and now trying to suppress Islam and Christianity

i think so

Because Jainism cannot get anyone into heaven.

The truth is that JESUS is God, and only Jesus offers a free gift of salvation by faith alone in Jesus without works.

Every other belief system forces you to try to "earn" heaven, or to ignore heaven (like atheism)

But nobody can "earn" heaven, and ignoring heaven just leaves the person unsaved and on the way to hell.

The truth is that the death and blood of Jesus is the only acceptable SACRIFICE and PAYMENT for our sins, and we are all sinners. JESUS died on the cross and shed His blood, for our sins. Nothing else pays for any of our sins. All the good deeds in the world won't pay for even ONE of our sins. All the "living a moral life" won't pay for even one of our sins. No "religions of the world" can pay for Antone's sins.

The truth is that Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins, and then Jesus rose from the dead. That is why Jesus had to die on the cross, because there is no other way for us to be saved. You must believe in Jesus for His free gift of salvation, to be saved! John 3:16! That easy to get into heaven!

Either Jesus already paid for a person's sins, or that person will be punished in eternal torment in the lake of fire. That is the choice before everyone.

The truth about Jesus is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to hell, is by believing in JESUS for His free gift of eternal life in heaven, believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died on the cross for all our sins as FULL PAYMENT for all our sins, and then Jesus rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe in Jesus for His free gift of salvation, and you will be in heaven, no matter what! John 3:16, John 6:47!

Jesus is God, and Jesus loves you so very much! And the Trinity is true!

Salvation is a FREE GIFT that happens in a split second when you believe in JESUS for His free gift of salvation! It is impossible to lose or "leave" salvation (John 6:39-40, John 10:28, 1 John 5:13).

Please pray now: "Jesus, I believe that You died on the cross to pay for my sins and that You rose from the dead, and I thank You for eternal life!" You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die!

The ONLY WAY to get into heaven, is by believing in Jesus for His free gift of salvation! John 14:6, Acts 4:12, John 3:16!

Jainism has strict rules and allows only vegetarian food and certain fasting rules which cannot be done by everyone and hence it is not that popular.

Unlike, Buddhism, Jainism did not allow expansion. Jainism is NOT A RELIGION, BUT IT IS A PHILOSOPHY OF PARSWANATH.

Jainism is contemporary to Vedik religion. So For Jainism, population is not important.

(I am not a Jainism follower) but I know the philosophy of Jainism

Jainism might have been an successful religion in the early times. In central Asian countries thousands of statues and structures purely related to Jainism have been found. Similar findings have been made in the rest of the world. This suggests that Jainism might have been popular thousands of years ago in the whole world.

In India, scholars do suggest that Indus valley civilization might have been a Jain civilization. With the coming of Aryas, Jains were forcibly converted to Hinduism. They were referred to as Asurs. The statues of Jain deities in the temples were thrown away. You can certainly find many Hindu temples in India with Jain architectures on their walls. For Buddhists this was even simpler, they just had to change the statues a bit and that became a Buddhist temple. All this was happening, and Muslim rulers came. They did all the remaining work, and the result- a handful of Jain temples remaining, lesser Jain scriptures, no Jain saints and even worse, very less people following Jainism. The effects were so worse that they can be seen till today- unpopularity of Jainism.

As far as the present times are concerned, unpopularity of Jainism is largely because of the ignorance of Jains itself. If the achievements of Jains are to be looked after 1600 years of nirvana of lord Mahavir, then Jains have just divided their religion, and nothing else. Very little is done to publicize Jainism in the world. Very recently, a little consciousness have developed in people to save their ancient religion what you might have thought of as 'much publicity'.

If principles of Jains are to be concerned, then according to Jain karma theory, if you have done a sin then you will have to pay for it, you just can't escape, but other religions say you can repent. Also, propaganda was created against this religion in ancient times which is used till today.

Still the unpopularity of this religion has very little to do with its principles. The answer to this question perhaps lies in the bloody history of some of the worse conversions that took in the country based on religious lines!
