Default What do you think about Jainism?

Do you like it, hate it? why?
What do you know about it?

It is so strict, the Jainist would need to withdraw from modern society. I prefer Buddhism, where intent is everything. Jainists will punish themselves over something they never meant to do. A Buddhist will forgive themselves, vow to try harder and learn and go their way. I mean, a sin to accidentally step on a bug! Too strict.

I think it's an interesting religion.

I love how they go out of their way to not harm any lifeforms, whether it's a human or something as tiny as a bug!

Their respect for life is very admirable. If only more people were the same way.

It's all about respecting the living being with full sense. respecting others point of view:multitude of reality as a truth is all relative...every soul is the architect of its own life, here or hereafter....Right Faith (right vision), Right Knowledge and Right Conduct (triple gems of Jainism) provide the way to this realization...Non-violence (to be in soul consciousness rather than body consciousness) is the foundation of right view, the condition of right knowledge and the kernel of right conduct. It leads to a state of being unattached to worldly things and being nonjudgmental and non-violent; this includes compassion and forgiveness in "thoughts, words and actions" toward all living beings and respecting views of others (non-absolutism).....just think on it
