Are you asking what Jains believe?

They take a five-fold vow of non-violence, truthfulness, non-stealing, celibacy (which is interpreted as controlling the senses for householders), and non-materialism.

They are vegans/strict vegetarians because they refuse to hurt any living thing.

It comes from Hinduism/Buddhism. You deny yourself pleasures in hopes of convincing yourself you are part of a universal god. It doesn't really work. They are good people, but they are trying to work their way to salvation. There is no way you could pay your way to salvation as you have nothing to offer God of any worth. Thank God He paid that price already with the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son.
