Not sure what your asking. The reason the Dalai Lama doesn't live in Tibet is because of Communist China.

Que?

Vegetarianism in Buddhism is encouraged, but not mandatory. In Jainism it is required.

They are both offshoots of Hinduism, but have some very important differences.

Fairly accurate statement, Except Buddhism is similar but not the same as Jainism.

Now, whats your Question?

What is your question?
In Jainism it is compulsory to be vegetarian and even water is filtered to avoid drinking micro organisms as good as possible.
In Buddhism each one of us needs to find the truth out themselves, e.g. why vegetarianism/vegan ism is good.
The Dalai Lama can't go back to Tibet because of the Chinese government. I'd love to see Tibet being free again, but I don't think this will happen soon - unfortunately.

To reduce Buddhism to Vegetarianism is a bit much. In any case I understood that the Dalai Lama had been advised to eat small amounts of meat by his doctors.

The philosophy of both religions are different. In Buddhism it is the eight fold path to seek renunciation and attain a state like Buddha (Bodhisatva). In Jain it is a lot of rebirths to get rid of sin(s) and attain nirvana or some such effect at the end.
The salvation of Christianity is not found in any of these religions.
