Both

it is a culture.

The Jewish people are a race and Judiasm is a religion.

both...but the concept is that if you are of the Jewish race, then you should be part of the Jewish religion, because it is supposed to go together....

Jews being a "race" is something started by the Nazis and company and has never really left society... the answer is that Jewish is both a religion/culture... NOT a race... there are Jewish people who are Asian, black, white, etc...

Beign Jewish is a people hood or nation. We have a common language, religion, culture, and even country (Israel belongs to all Jews). However if it were a race no one could convert to Judaism. People do convert to Judaism and are just as Jewish as those who were born Jews. Therefore race must be dropped from the equation.

There are black African Jews, Asian Jews, Indian Jews(from India, the country), Yemenite Jews, European Jews... They all look very very different.
There was a big immigration of Ethiopian Jews to Israel 15 years ago or so. There was also a mass aliyah (Hebrew for immigration to Israel) of Jews from the former soviet union. Do you think these groups looked alike?

I hate to disagree with so many experts but a portion of the Jewish people do in fact constitute a race. In fact, Jews are the only group constituted by as religion, a nationality, a country and a race!

The evidence for the racial component of Judaism is disease. There are a number of "Jewish" diseases. Tay-Sachs, Psoraiasis, ... When a disease primarily affects a group of people, the disease is generally genetic, and the people that comprise that group can be considered a race!

Certainly converts may not be part of this Jewish race, unless they are returning to Judaism after some generations away.
