If there's a Jewish mom and a Christian dad, what religion is the kid?

Does the kid always go by the religion of their mom? Because I've heard that. If the mom is Jewish and the dad is Christian, what happens to their children? Are their children Jewish or Christian? And what if the mom says "No, little Susie here will be Jewish like me since I'm her mother," but the dad wants little Susie to be Christian and they argue. What religion is the kid?

Religion is a personal choice so, whatever religion the kid wants to be. The question is what will the mom and dad do.

My friend is in the same situation. I say let the kid decide.

Religions are beliefs of a higher power. How can a child of different religious based parents, or anyone for that matter, have a belief they don't believe in? The child would need to research each religion to see which one they agree with more than the other. The parents should not be an influential factor in the decision making of such a powerful choice.
