The first day is Sunday, the day on which light was created. The evening and the morning constitute a day, and so the first day of the week according to the Jewish calendar is what we would consider to be Saturday night and Sunday until sunset.

Sunday. In Hebrew, Sunday is called "Yom Rishon", meaning "first day".

Sunday. In Hebrew it's S'S'son), which means "first".

Note that a Jewish day starts at nightfall on the day before, so Reeshon begins on Saturday night.

All days of the week but Saturday are literally called in Hebrew "first day", "second day", etc.

1st day = Sunday = Tom reechoing = A???
2ND day = Monday = Tom she nee = AA??
3rd day = Tuesday = yom shleeshee = ??? ?????
4th day = Wednesday = yom revee'ee = ??? ?????
5th day = Thrusday = yom khameeshee = ??? ?????
6th day = Friday = yom sheeshee = ??? ????
7th day = Saturday = yom shabat = ??? ???

In all names of the days the accent is on the last syllabe (shaBAT and not SHAbat as you say in English).

The word "shabat" reminds both the words seven (sheva in Hebrew) and rested (shavat in Hebrew). "b" and "v" are written with the same letter in Hebrew.
