I don't understand, we received a Happy Hanukkah card from a family member that we were sure they were Christian (ultra religious Christians at that). We learned that they were now Jewish after asking another family member. What I don't understand is how can you have loved and accepted Jesus at one point and now are Jewish.
I'm so confused. Can someone please explain?
Bob L, I thank you for clearing that up for me. I understand what you mean Living Loving, and Tracy, I wondered the same thing when I was a child, but my mom didn't have the answer for me so I just let it go... It would be nice to know to real truth.
Oh yeah, to all of the marriage people, it's a husband and a wife that's been married for over 20 years to each other.
2 timothy 4:3,4 will tell you what happened, people today are more interested in being taught things that are pleasing to them, than being taught the truth from the bible.
Maybe they found out the Roman Empire was responsible for merging their pagan beliefs with the Old Testament to form Christianity and decided to go to the source religion as untempered (Judaism).
It doesn't happen much...Lots of times (though not your case) a person who is an X but not devout meets a Y who shows him the power and wisdom of the Bible, so he leaves X because he says 'Why did my belief not give me this like Y does?' -- and of course the answer is in his own laziness. But they never see that.
Some Chiristian resort to returning to Christianity's Jewish roots. They align themselves with Messianic Jews, and place themselves under the old laws again while saying they worship Jesus.
Other Christians who convert to Judaism simply do not have a working knowledge of the Bible, or of the teachings of Jesus. In all likelihood, these kinds of Christians were never saved to begin with.
Perhaps after taking a comparative look at the two religions, your family member decided that Jesus did not fill messianic prophecy according to Judaism.
Christianity is actually in violation of the first three Commandments in it's very foundation to serve Jesus, rather than God.
Usually its due to extremely popular false teachings in the Christian world. When Christianity is taught in error, it makes things that are not true look the most true, because what Christians should be teaching in Christianity, is available to believe in other religions, but not made available in what people are teaching to be Christianity. Such things mostly result from how terribly inaccurate, yet utterly popular, in modern day Christianity, false doctrines can tend to be.
