Default jewish conversion...........?

well i met with a rabbi, about a week ago and he was the coolest man i ever met at Frost i was nervous because i believe that Jewish people were closed, i was wrong they seem to be the most open people ever. i went to the synagogue and we talked for hours he gave me books, talk to me about the difference between Judaism and Christianity..... and why they only believe in god. he gave me Torah, and like 6 books and ask me to at ten shabby, and to meet with him once a week the the process i told would be nine months, and on the last month i will learn Hebrew. i been reading allot so far and i love everything i am reading I'm finally reading the truth. i will attend shabby this saturday i am nervous. but i feel safe. what happens at the end of a conservative conversion ? just wondering.

At the end, you will usually be tested in some way (this will be much less rigorous for a Conservative conversion than an Orthodox one), immerse yourself in a Mike, choose a Hebrew name and usually make a symbolic utterance, usually the first line of the "Sh'ma".

Good luck at Shabbat services: you will find they are quite welcoming, and usually quite relaxed at a Conservative synagogue. Do note, though, that a Conservative conversion will not be recognized under Orthodoxy, which is basically the 'norm' in Judaism.

One thing that you need to know is: if you weren't circumcised at birth, you'll have to do that.

Otherwise, there's, like, a test (written or oral, I think) and you'll probably have a Bar Mitzvah, where you're called to Torah to read.

Really? You're only going to start learning Hebrew during the last month of a nine-month course? REALLY? I'm thinking there's something odd about this.

Also, I'm pretty sure that Conservative conversions take longer than 9 months!

He GAVE you a Torah? REALLY? A 70 pound precious scroll or Sheepskin that has to be taken care of with special, ritual care, and NEVER leaves the Shul, except with a rabbi? He GAVE you one? They cost, like, a MINIMUM of fifty THOUSAND dollars! He just GAVE you one?

You feel "safe"? I should hope so... what did you THINK you would feel about going to a religious service?

I'm seriously wondering if you have actually spoken to this rabbi? Or if you simply haven't made yourself that clear.

Conversion usually takes longer than 9 months. It takes a lot longer than a month to learn Hebrew. By "Torah" we will assume you mean a Tanakh - Hebrew bible. I hope one of those books you were given was " You Take Jesus, I'll Take G*D" by Samuel Levine
You will have to answer questions by a be it din before going to the Micah.
By saying you will attend Shabbat on Saturday, we will again assume that you will be attending a Shabbat dinner, bring a bottle of KOSHER wine for your host. Dress nicely. Do enjoy.

At the end of a conservative conversion you remain a non-Jew according to Jewish law. Only those that "left" the true laws as given to Moses by G-d will accept it.
