Where are the 2 great Commandments of Christ found in the Tanakh?
Apostle, read the answer directly below yours and you will see why you got the thumbs down, the dreaded JJJJJJJPPPPPAAAAs have arrived!
Have any JPA's ever read the NT?
Kosher Ninja, if you are Kosher, wouldn't that mean that you become non-Kosher because you are here wallowing with us gentile unbelievers?
Kosher: If you really think that the Israelites no longer exist, why did you withdraw your question about the lost 10 tribes?
Ruth, No insult is intended, it is a valid point to raise if "Kosher" is really Kosher, then should she be here on R&S arguing with Christians? Especially since very few of the JPA's seem to have any agenda other than bashing followers of Messiah Yeshua.
You were never a "Christian" if you were a Catholic or Protestant. If you understood that correct Sabbath day and the Feasts of the Lord, and kept them, then you had the beginnings of understanding what it meant to follow the Christ.
Nothing 'of Christ' is found in the Jewish Tanakh.
Where are the two great teachings of Mohammed found in the Christian bible...?
edit
I'm very glad that Judaism doesn't regard Gentiles the way you seem to THINK it does.
'wallowing'???
I have always enjoyed the Jewish-Christian dialogEUoth in this forum and in 'real life'. It's one of the most interesting and challenging aspects OF this site!
Basically, Christ's big two are a condensation of the big 10. Love God and love others.
The first five tell you how God expects you to show your love for the divine. The last five tell you that you show love for others best by not doing bad things to them.
The 10 Commandments - Christ's Summation in the New Testament
Around 1,400 years later, the 10 Commandments were summed up in the New Testament at Matthew 22, when Jesus was put to the test by the religious leaders of the day:
"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" (Matthew 22:36-40).
If you love God with all your heart and all your soul, and all your mind, you will not have other gods before Him. If you love God then you will not take His name in vain. etc.
If you love your neighbor as yourself, you will not steal from him or murder him, etc. That is what is meant by Christ saying that the Law is summed up by these two commandments.
Christ's teaching reveals that the first four commandments given to the children of Israel are included in the statement to: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." The last six commandments are enclosed in the statement to: "Love your neighbor as yourself."
Peace and blessings to all!
How disingenuous of you! "....wallowing with us gentile unbelievers?" When has any Jew ever called you an unbeliever? When has any Jew ever said that someone who wasn't Jewish was an unbeliever? I think that insult is reserved for Christians and Muslims who truly believe that anyone who isn't Christian or Muslim is an unbeliever.
And no, most of us have not read the NT...what for? There is nothing in there to interest a Jewish person and a lot of stuff in there to make Jews angry.
answer: Jesus was merely REPEATING what was already in the Tanakh and paraphrasing the words of Hillel: What is hateful to you, do not do to others.
Hear, O Israel, the Lord is your G-d, the Lord is ONE. Blessed be the name of His glorious kingdom forever and ever. And you shall love the Lord your G-d with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your might.
There is NO evidence of Jesus in the Jewish Tanakh.
Yes, many of Jews have read the Christian OT and NT, many of us WERE Christians. Still no Jesus in the Tanakh because his very existence proved that he was NOT the Jewish Messiah.
Insulting other members is a sign of desperation and that your argument is already lost.
response: It never fails to amuse me when a Xtian can judge whether another person was a "real" Xtian or not. Or whether Jews are right about their OWN scripture. The arrogance is astounding. U were attacking PBW, maybe u should apologize before next Yom Kippur.
The JPA members like Xtians until 1 starts preaching, telling Jews their wrong or falsely calls themselves "Jews". We have Xtian members in our contacts along with pagans, Heathens, atheists, Jews, and who knows what else.
The only agenda is to stand against lies about our religions and the cupcakes.
