The New Covenatnt was prophesied in the Old Covenant times. Jesus brought in the New Covenant. The church has never been under the old one.
Mat 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Jer 31:31-34 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant ... this shall be the covenant that I will make ...I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.... And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Under the New Covenant we receive the Spirit as the prophet Joel also prophesied would happen in Th New Covenant. (Joel 2:27-32)
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
The ceremonial law was not carried over into the New Covenant. Ceremonial law was a shadow pointing towards the coming of Christ. Christ, the reality of the shadow, has come.
Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
Col 2:20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
Col 2:21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
1) The ceremonial law pointed to Christ and is fulfilled in him.
2) Jesus perfectly obeyed the Law.
3) Jesus paid our penalty for breaking the Law.
The Law could not give us the strength to live right but the Spirit that we receive in the New Covenant can.
Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Rom 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
Rom 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
The moral law as you see is still in effect. The requirements of the moral law are righteous.
The New Testament also says that homosexuality is a sin.
And like all sin, it is forgiven by believing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The truth is that the only way to get into heaven and avoid being sent to eternal hell is by believing in this life that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose again (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
Believe this and you are saved! Please pray now: "Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and You rose again. Thank You for eternal life!" You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die
It's hypocrisy; they like to cherry pick the bible for whatever verses are convenient for them and then ignore the rest. But if I were you I would pay no mind to the primitive superstitions of bronze age goat herders anyway.
princess Madelin JP what is Tanakh what does that have to do with Jesus getting rid of, explain. response to your answer i don't see Tanakh in the bible prove it show chapters of it or something.
What you need is to understand the difference between
statutes, laws, and ordinances. Christ did not come in the flesh to change one jot of the law - what changed were some ordinances included blood sacrifice, as Christ was the perfect sacrifice once and for all time. Another was circumcise -
it became not only for the male only but also the female, because it was no longer circumcision of the foreskin, but rather of the heart, where no gender is intended.
Additionally, please note that any person or Church who tells you that the New Testament replaces the old, is a liar and is
Biblically illiterate. The New Testament does NOT replace the Old, but is a continuance of the Old. The entirety of Gods Word is equally as relevant. Laws of the time are not the laws necessarily of today - as Christians, our mandate is to follow the civil law of our time.
Finally, as far as your homo-Nessa, it is not only Leviticus that preaches against it, but also the New Testament in Romans
and Corinthians.
God is the same yesterday, today and will be tomorrow and
forever - in fact, the same Word of God will be as relevant
in the eternity as it is today. God does not change, only man
changes - hopefully, for his own good, he changes for the
better and not to move further away from his God.
Side-note: It is "CHRISTians". That "x" will not save your
butt, and Christ will not be mocked nor will He be removed
whether you put your x there or not - however, if you set yourself up as an enemy of God, you should expect to be treated as such. I strongly suggest against that.
The ceremonial laws is done away
Most of the judicial laws is done away
The moral laws still in effect. The prohibition of homosexuality is clearly expounded in Romans ch1; thus it is acceptable to make cross reference of the sin of homosexuality from the OT, where applicable. Because the judicial law is fulfilled by Jehovah Yeshua Christ, you DO NOT see Christians stoning homosexuals.
Don't know. Why don't you ask her? It's pretty rude for a Mom to be doing that to her daughter. Ask her, since she believes in the Old Testament, why she doesn't just kill you like she's supposed to (according to OT)? Now her answer to THAT might be something worth listening to!
Actually he changed some of the Noahide laws because he said it was impossible for people to live up to God's laws, but stated that we should attempt to do so, if we fail trying at least we tried, we would be forgiven.
