Default How many synagogues are there in Britain?

I really need to know, please answer, but please don't say anything random.
And don't say too many.
Just give me the figures.

In the cities there are quite a few. None at all where I am at the moment. In fact there is only one Catholic church about 20 miles away and all the chapels and other churches are empty. A few old ladies is their remaining congregations. A large town up the coast has declared itself Celtic pagan and now follows the old ways.

This part of the world is coming back to life, now the death cults are loosing their flavor, now their lies are showing through the cracks.

Practicing Shaman.. quantum physics rocks.

answer: as you can see by some of the answers - there are reasons synagogues don't advertise their worship schedules, have fences around the properties and security cameras.

You could find the information but probably not from Jews - being cautious is a good thing in the Jewish community.

OK, I'm not going to do all the counting for you, but here are the sources. You'll find that each movement has some actual physical synagogues and some communities that meet in various buildings that are not dedicated synagogues. You'll have to decide which you want.
Reform Judaism: http://synagogues.reformjudaism.org.uk/
Orthodox: http://www.somethingjewish.co.uk/articles/326_united_synagogues.htm
Liberal: http://www.liberaljudaism.org/congregations.htm
Masorti: http://www.masorti.org.uk/# (go to "Our Communities" for the list)
Chabad Lubavitch: http://www.chabad.org.uk/ (go to cent res and then each region)

Of course there are other groups too, but that covers much the majority. There are, for example, the Gateshead community synagogues (see http://www.jewishgen.org/jcr-uk/community/gateshead.htm ) and no doubt others. But this is quite enough to be going on with!!

EDIT: Some people really do amaze me. Who is the idiot who has found it necessary to thumbs-down my factual and direct answer to the question (and other perfectly valid answers)?
