is their a single word to categorize religious places, such as churches, synagogues, temples, etc.?

"House of worship" is a term that Baha'is throw around that seems to be nicely all-inclusive. One could also say "place of worship" just as well.

"Places of worship."
(I know that's three words, but that's all I've got.)

Some may call them sanctuaries.

The place of worship is where any two or more people are gathered together.
This could even be anywhere where the word of God from the scriptures are used.
It would not have to be a temple,church,or synagogue.
It is what is in the heart, you worship from your heart.
This could be the start of where worship begins, but knowledge and how to worship the true God begins with each person and what and how he feels for God and learn his requirements.
