Paul lied about the Christian God. He was preaching to gentiles, so they didn't realize he was spouting nonsense.

Religion (all religions, not just Christianity) is mainly about how you interpret things.
That's why there are so many different sects to each religion.

I'm not sure what they base their ideas of the afterlife on in Judaism. In the Tanach, IE old Testament part of the Bible, the ideas of the afterlife are not very developed. Rabbis developed the Talmud in the 1st half of the 1st millennium CE, commenting and extending exist rules as they saw fit, but had no new prophets. There were commentaries on those ideas. But they seem to have no authority for their ideas of the afterlife, as the Pentateuch is considered as truly authoritative, and that has little on the afterlife, much of it is about rules for life on Earth.

The Jewish god also hasn't sent any "messiah" yet, while the christian one supposedly has.
The Jewish one still requires all those old testament dietary laws and circumcision, while the christian one doesn't.

I can't figure out why people who talk about two entirely different gods, who've supposedly done entirely different things, as "the same god." It's just silly.

Of course, with no evidence to show either one actually exists, talking about them at all is just silly

Peace.

They are one and the same God. Many Jews in ancient times did not believe in Hell or an afterlife and the Old Testament reflects this. But the Christians believed as the Pharisees did, that there was a Hell and that horrible people would go there.
They got this belief from the Exile when they were under Zoroastrian influence.

I have no idea whether Jews believe in hell nowadays, but in Jesus' day, they did. The Christian belief descends from the Jewish one.
