Default Did Germany ever issue an apology to Jewish people persecuted and murdered during Wor

I don't believe the government ever issued a formal apology. I know they paid reparations to Israel and some other stuff after World War Two. But, did they issue an apology to Jews and/or their families and did they get anything form the German government individually?
When I say apology I mean an official on paper type apology. Not formal gestures of good faith or something like that. I know that they have built many memorials and paid reparations to war stricken countries.
An example of what I mean is when he United States government issued a formal apology to American Japanese people who were interned. They each got a letter stating an apology and were paid around $10,000 (that may be a high number). Did the German government do anything like that?

If the Holocaust museums and continued prosecution of Nazis from World War II (even the ones on the verge of dying!) aren't apology enough, I don't know what is.

Yes, Germany accepted all responsibility and paid some reparations to the surviving families of the holocaust. Today the German people are radically opposed to anything Nazi and openly admit the holocaust occurred.

Germany has many monuments and mus ems with documents, photos and other historical evidence on display. The best one I have seen is at Dachau where ledgers with victims names, photos, etc. are on display and the buildings are open to the public with signs telling what occurred in each spot.

Most Germans today say it was something their Grand Parents did and they don't understand why.

There's been lots of gestures made by the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany/ unified Germany) starting with Konrad Adenauer in 1952. The most famous gesture was Willi Brant's visit to the Warsaw ghetto and the concentration camps in 1970. There is a very famous picture of him falling to his knees at the monument in Warsaw in a show of contrition. There was even photos of him breaking into tears as he was shown what remained of the camps. I would say that qualified as a formal apology. I wasn't able to find any mention of an apology from the Socialist Republic of Germany (East Germany) though, but they were subjected to reparations to the USSR and Poland so there was little chance of seeing any help towards Israel, who was a western ally.
