Default Why does the secular world use the Christian year of 2011 instead of the Jewish or Mu

If the Islamic year is 1492, the Jewish year is 5771, and the Christian year is 2011, why does the secular world use the Christian year instead of any other?

The reason that the Christian era is accepted as the common era worldwide has mostly to do with the influence of the western world.

The Anno Domini designation in which it is currently the year 2011 originates from a monk's calculations in 6Th-century Europe. The Roman Catholic Church accepted these calculations and began using this new year-numbering system. Western influence has led to this Christian system being used worldwide, even in Islamic countries, for civil convenience purposes.

Much like January is named after the Roman pagan god, Janus, even though many people do not believe in Janus.

Because most of the secular world was either originally Christian, is majority Christian, or it's just a tradition carried on. Where possible, I'd prefer CE or BCE, but I know they'll be up in arms.

Certainly not because that God is real... Its because majority rules, and back when calendars were being invented, Christianity was the dominant religion of the Western world.

The Chinese also have their own calendar year.

You might also note that, although this is using the "Christian" year, all the months and days of hate week are named after roman and Greek gods.

This is basically untrue! there are a lot of other calendar systems in use.
In Nepal there at least five or six calendars. Bikram Sambat, the official Nepali calendar, which begins around the Vernal Equinox each year. There's Nepal Sambat, the calendar of the Newari people, which begins at the height of the festival of Tihar in autumn.

The Western Gregorian calendar is used in dealings with foreigners. The the Gurung and Tamang peoples have their own calendar that begins in late December or early January. The - and the Sherpas & Tibetans use the lunar Tibetan calendar, which starts a little later-February.

Finally, there is a sacred Hindu calendar used by astrologers & in calculating holy days and festivals
Additionally, quite a few of the Eastern Orthodox Christian churches still use the older Julian calendar for calculating holy days.

Additionally, AD is being replaced with CE (for 'Common Era') instead of the distinctly Christian AD (Anno Domini, 'in the year of Our Lord')

I laugh at the idea of a "secular" world.

It doesn't exist.
