Default Why is Jesus nose always western looking and not Jewish?

Its almost as if he was European? Perhaps he was but as I remember he had at least some Jewish in him. We can thank medieval catholics for such promotional images
Lol you would be surprise

Does it really matter what kind of nose he has?

Or maybe... Jesus never existed at all and people imagine him in different colors to make him feel closer to them. As Johnny Cash says... Personal Jesus.

Should we have the death penalty for adultery not because
we hate the adulterer but because we love innocent children?

The family is the basic unit of society,
what laws would strengthen the family?

Harsher drug abuse penalties?

People picture Jesus as being like them. To Hispanics, he often looks Latino.

In reality, Jesus was probably much closer in appearance to the average middle eastern person.

If he had a nose like Mark Weiner, all of the pictures of him would tip over, and all of the statues would just be used as coat racks.

that's a good question. I wondered how anyone got the image to portray Jesus, during the past 2,000 years of all the paintings that had been done of him? He didn't pose for any back in his day, so how did all the medieval painters know how to portray him?
Just recently I was kinda near puking. I'd seen a certain publication of him, and he was always portrayed with some middle eastern influence in his features. But the publication had a new version, and he looked more like some older surfer dude from California.....he was totally Caucasian. Yuck.

Basically, many versions of his image exist. some even consider he was actually more black than white. So my suggestion is to find an image you prefer, and then stick with it.

Don't know. I've never seen a real photo or drawing of him as he really was. The pics we have are the artists imagination, not the real thing.

All I do know is when the Romans pursued him, he blended in with the other Jews in the crowd, and didn't stand out. I believe if he actually looked like any of these pictures, he would have been easy to spot.

The Church also portrays him as being white. Last time I checked the Holy Land was in the Middle East. He should have had at least a little flavor to him...

And what does a Jewish nose look like?

I'm Jewish, of German heritage and my whole family has Blondie hair, blue eyes and small noses. European Jews look the same as everyone else from the country they come from.

Your stereo type that all Jews have big noses is just that, a stereo type. That's just what Hitler did. Google Hitler's stereo type of Jews and you'll see he made us look like monstrous freaks. That's your lesson for the day.

Well if you believe that Jesus existed then it would be a fact that he was Middle Eastern and Jewish, not European. I suspect that The Church in Medieval times made him look European either so he would look like them (they wanted that connection) or because they didn't like the Muslims that lived in those parts and didn't want to think of him to look like them.

A little racist, are we?

Exactly what kind of nose do you think images of Jesus should have - and WHY?
