Default In what way did Jesus as a Jew misunderstand Judaism and the hebrew Bible?

I am asking any Jewish friends to help me understand where Jesus went wrong in his understanding of Judaism.

I think it was the Jews who went wrong in their understanding of God's Word, especially the prophecies predicting CHRIST'S COMING.

They failed to recognize him......the just as the Christ haters today.

Jesus understood scripture better than all of them. That's why they were like the Quran says.
"Men who can't argue with a wise man, smile in his face, and go home and bite off the tips of their fingers in RAGE!"

I don't think he misunderstood Judaism at all. I don't even think he misunderstood the Jewish people. He knew they were a stiff necked rebellious sinful degenerate nation that he loved and was sent to bring salvation to.

I don't think he misunderstood anything, I think he just didn't agree with it. Most churches are places where dead people go to feel better.

You got it in reverse. Judaizers misinterpreted the reason for the giving of the law....the law wasn't given to make us right with God, but to show us that NO ONE can live up to God's standards of holiness and perfection...(thank you Adam).

Therefore the law was given to point us to our need for a Savior.

He didn't misunderstand the law...Jesus fulfilled the law for us.

Ask yourself this: How was God's promise to given to Abraham? Was it given because his works were righteous, or was it because he believed God and his faith was accounted to him as righteousness? (Just like those whose faith is in Christ)

No flesh can be made righteous by the works of the law, because no flesh can uphold every jot and tittle of the law....

Abraham received God's blessing and promise prior to being circumcised, and prior to the giving of the law which was 430 years later. The law (what you call Judaism today) isn't the way to God.....having the One who kept the law and was the spotless, sinless Lamb of God who died in your place according to the law is the only way to God.

Jesus didn't misunderstand...the doctrine of Judaism has misunderstood.

what in the world!! where did u hear that?
don't u know that he did understand more than most?
that is why he became angry when he saw people sinning and being hypocrites, he had to study more than most people did in order for him to become enlightened and be able to preach the truth to his people.

no he didn't,, pharisees believed that this life is it ,,no eternal sphere or heaven ,,the Sadducee's believed in a place of Joy and being with God, after life ,,so this question from 2000 years ago isn't laid to rest yet,, huh ,, Jesus said i go to prepare a place for you, that where i am you may be also,, in my fathers house are many mansions if it where not so i would have told you,, see that's pure Sadducee, an after life ,, most of the high lefties and the keenest at that time were pharisees and they did their works in the earth because of the laws and ordinances and they were serious about their religion even to the testing of Jesus with these questions ..,

well, he made up a bunch of crap that has nothing to do with Judaism and turned it into his own religious ideas.

examples
1. that the messiah will be the son of god and savior of humankind - the Jewish messiah is supposed to be nothing more than a simple man who is a great spiritual leader and will help bring the world peace and the Jews back to Israel
2. that its even theologically possible for god to have a son - this is not compatible with Judaisms strict monotheism, and their knowledge that god has no physical form and will never need take one since he is all powerful
3. original sin - Jesus says we are all born sinners, and need a savior. Judaism says we are born pure of sin, and only choose to do sin. they only way to "erase" your sin is to make amends and earn forgiveness from the people you have wronged.
4. hell - you have to be a christian to get to heaven or spend eternity in hell. Judaism says all righteous people of the world have a place in the world to come.

You have to let us know what you know meaning a little hint of what your trying to say. Because of what I get from your question is my Brother the only thing I can say and a little quick wording is
The problem was not with Jesus But with the people.
Example: The disciples believed that Jesus came to establish his Kingdom and that was not Jesus plan. There is more but you have to be more specific Bro.

ha ha

your going to anger all these Christians in here. Anyone can tell by what Jesus wrote that he had a very basic understanding of the Bible at best and sometimes confused the meaning of verses.

the money changers was a classic case
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_and_the_Money_Changers

Jesus did not understand that the money changers were doing a valuable and necessary service and did nothing wrong, but in his simple country knowledge he did not understand this.

I'm not a Jew. Jesus, being God, understood Judaism perfectly. What makes you think He had it wrong?

Jesus was basically an observant orthodox Jew from the West Bank. Albeit questionable in his moral character. (cursing fig trees, etc.)

The Jewish objections are of the claims in the Christain religion. Such as Jesus being the Messiah (when he did not fulfill the requirements of the Messiah), Jesus being G-d (when the Bible says clearly that God is not a man) etc.
