is Mormonism a branch of satanism or christianity or neither?
the whole confusion of if they believe the trinity, and saying their the only true place on earth, dead baptisms, blood atonement, polygamy, being gods and goddesses after they die, the holy underwear thing, Jesus and Satan brothers, damning black people from Mormonism priesthood until 1978, plus all the other things that i haven't mentioned that aren't on the top of my head u r welcome to help me remember........ but the question is is Mormonism a branch of satanism or Christianity
plus angels visiting the Joe Smith guy, and gold plates, the American Indian thing and all that too, all that stuff. My daughter reads books that don't even come close to those beliefs, many are comic books
They're neither. They're their own group. Even though they use Christian names and general language, and would identify themselves as "Christians", their core doctrines are extremely different from Christianity.
Realistically, both, neither, and all of the above. His family was arrested and charged with witchcraft several times, you can even find the court transcripts on line. And his family has a rich history of being both charlatans, as well as dabbling in the occult. Smith himself was tried of witchcraft, so really it depends who you ask these questions to I suppose.
Not to say that modern Mormon's are dabbling in the occult. But I definitely would question the validity of Smith, at any case.
I am a Christian, and I consider Mormonism to be a cult. I don't believe they are christian at all. They don't believe in the deity of Jesus. They added to the bible to complete their heretical theology, with the book or Mormon.
Mormonism is another branch of Christianity that believes Christ was a separate being from God. The Holy Spirit is the part everyone has in them. Christ is a reinterpretation of former deities and prophets from other cultures.
Not all Mormons are like that. My P.E.A.C.E. elective teacher last year was one of the nicest and most tolerant people I know. She would never discriminate against anyone.
I'm pretty sure some sects of Satanism don't acknowledge the Christian definition of Satan as a deity (or any deity for that matter), so I would have to say that the Mormons are a Christian sect.
neither..........they are not Christians because they don't believe in Jesus Christ........they don't believe he was God's son....they don't believe in the Holy Trinity..........
Mormonism is not at all Satanic. Mormons believe Three Beings: A Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. They do not practice polygamy.
With the Comic books there are children's versions of the Bible and Book of Mormon the the LDS (Mormon) church has put out they are not comic books. They are simplified so children can better understand the scriptures.
Shhh, not so loud.... there's a lot of Mormons in America, they might find out.
They are Christians only on the most nominal (in name) level. But the Bible says that's enough to be saved: "As many as receive him, he gave the power to become sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." (John 1:12)
While the Mormon Church itself has many Satanic elements derived from Freemasonry, (That Joseph Smith was a mason and influenced by freemasonry in the writing of the Book of Mormon is a known fact) God looks at the individual believers heart. Many Mormons are true believers in Jesus Christ in spite of the teachings of their church (not because of).
What a strange question. Satanism? There's nothing about Mormonism and Satanism which remotely resemble one another. Anyone suggesting otherwise knows nothing about Satanic practice.
Technically, it's a form of Christianity. Mormons, like other Christians, believe that Christ was the divine messiah of Hebrew prophecy, and they believe in the truth and authenticity of the New Testament gospels. In the simplest sense, Mormons meet the baseline definition for Christian.
That said, it's a wildly revisionist take on traditional Christianity, and most Christians believe the Mormon "expansions" on the traditional Christian scriptures to be heretical. I wouldn't be surprised at all if this question receives a flood of "it's Satanic!" responses from Christians simply expressing 1) their disgust for Mormon tenants, and 2) a classical arrogant willingness to translate "is this Christianity?" into "is this MY brand of GOOD Christianity?".
Mormonism has roots in Freemasonry, it's founder Joseph Smith was a Mason and borrowed from it's rituals for the Temple Endowment. It is also significant that Joseph Smith was murdered by a mob of Freemasons on the steps of Nauvoo Illinois Masonic Temple, which probably accounts for the long open hostility between the two groups, although recently Utah Freemasonry changed it's prohibition on Mormons joining 'The Craft'.

Since the core of Mormon beliefs are to invite people to believe in Christ, hope in Christ, follow Christ, and to learn as much as you can about Christ because only through Christ is there any salvation or redemption... and since I would expect a Satanic belief to try and draw people AWAY from Christ... they are Christian.
Also, a lot of what you're listing isn't what they believe, or is supported in the Bible. Do more research.
It is NOT Christianity. Mormonism uses Jesus as a hook to entice people, but really it has nothing to do with Jesus at all. The bible says that no one can add to the word of God or his name will be added to the book of plagues. The Mormons add a LOT that you can not find in the bible. They are a false religion full of false prophets, but we as Christians love them anyway, pray for them and go on. All Christianity is based on the bible and nothing else. Any religion that says otherwise is not the doctrine of Jesus Christ.
