Default Is this true? Charles Taze Russell was a 33rd Degree Freemason; as was Joseph Smith,

http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/False%20Religions/Jehovah%20Witnesses/jw.htm
What about these pictures of Russells grave site?
Why so many thumbs down to Chris? If this is not true why all the thumbs down? Let the truth be told and if it's not true why try to silence the person? Very suspicious.
I read the Watchtowers and Awakes and I don't see the same attacks against Mormons as I do the way they attack Born Again Christians.

Russall was not a Freemason.

Smith was a Freemason; but not a 33rd Degree.

To Chris' "points"...

Freemasonry is not a cult, let a lone a satanic cult, there is nothing in any form of freemasonry that is satanic. Neither religion was founded by freemasonry.

To Pastor 'disaster'
There is no deceit in Freemasonry, we are open, all our rituals and modes of recognition are published on line at actual masonic sites - you can read a bunch of other stuff at anti-mason sites; I encourage everyone to read them both for themselves, it is clear which group is telling the truth...you have freedom of speech and freedom of religion because of freemasonry.

Yes, Mr. Smith was a Mason, where he got some "inspiration" for the Mormon temple rituals.

I have heard Russell was and I know Smith and his top bananas in the Mormon church were. Some of the Freemason rituals are used in Mormon temples.

I have heard that Smith was, as to his degree I have no clue. Russell I have never heard of.

To answer your question about why Chris is getting so many thumbs down.. Because Chris is spreading lies about Mason and Mormons. Just because he thinks they AR wrong doesn't make it true. The Masons aren't even close to being satanic. The Mormon religion is just as valid as his closed minded belief is.

Russell admits to being a Freemason.

"I am very glad to have this particular opportunity of saying a word about some of the things in which we agree with our Masonic friends, because we are speaking in a building dedicated to Masonry, and we also are Masons. I am a Freemason." Charles Taze Russell. (The Temple of God-Pastor Russell page 120

Joseph Smith was a 3rd degree master mason, the 33rd degree mason Scottish rite wasn't around in Illinois in 1841-42. Here's a link of a mason who is a Mormon and will give talk about the link between Masons and Mormons.

http://www.fairlds.org/FAIR_Conferences/2005_Latter-day_Saints_and_Freemasonry.html

Freemasonry is a fraternity not a religion.
The LDS church is a religion.

I'd, say from PERSONAL experience the endowment ceremony in the Mormon temples as about 75% copied straight from what goes in the masonic lodges....

See this link!...

http://www.irr.org/mit/masonry.html

Joseph Smith admitted to being a Mason in his History of the Church, volume 4, page 551. Under the date of March 15, 1842 it reads: "In the evening I received the first degree in Free Masonry in the Nauvoo Lodge, assembled in my general business office." The record for the next day reads, "I was with the Masonic Lodge and rose to the sublime degree" (page 552).

Joseph became a Mason on March 15, 1842 and "rose to the sublime degree" the following day. Less than two months later, on May 4, 1842, Joseph introduced the temple endowment ceremony (History of the Church, Vol. 5, pp. 1-2).

It is also obvious that the Nauvoo Temple architecture was in part, at least, Masonically influenced. Indeed, it appears that there was an intentional attempt to utilize Masonic symbols and motifs. . . .

Yep. They show evidence of their programming/deceit. cl_Freemason shows the best example. Denial isn't just another river in Egypt.

And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God." Jn. 3:19-21

Russell had masonic ties and used Masonic beliefs and there are to date many masonic symbols in the Watchtower Organizations publications. I think Russell claimed Adventist roots, but it has been a long time since I researched that one.

Both Smith and Russell were without a doubt into free-masonry. Little-known among Masons is how far the hierarchy goes. The blue Lodge or third degree Mason is the first level. The 33 degree Mason or Scottish rite is the next level. at this point it's important to point out that what Masons referred to as the "architect of the universe"has no reference to the God of the Bible. He is never called this in the Scriptures. This can only be a reference to Lucifer. This is the "rank and file level" where they do many charitable works. This is also the service clubs level. Most Masons believe that what they are doing is very benign.

As we make our way up the latter to the " core of initiation" we past the Illuminati level to the OTO or the "Ordo Templi Orientis" level. This is where the" big boys" gather (IE order of the skull and Bones, The Boehiem Grove in the depths of Crowleyanity).

I hope no Masons in this forum ever get to this level. It's not until you drink blood out of a human skull that you realize how far into a Satanic Cult you have really gotten yourself into.
