Default Has a spiritual Trojan Horse come into the Christian camp since the early 1800s in th

It has always claimed to be Christian but was feared and ridiculed as an impost er during the 1800s. Yet during the 1900s it gradually became accepted as okay and now we have an outcry if anybody (like me) dares suggest it might not be as Christian as it claims to be.

The Book of Mormon says the Bible and the Christian gospel have been corrupted; Mormons believe all the Christian denominations prior to their emergence did the corrupting and refer to that as an apostasy. Only they have restored 'the fullness of the gospel'. But they object strongly to the idea that they call Christians apostates. Is this because they want to be accepted as just another Christian denomination, in order to infiltrate Christianity's ranks and persuade everyone they are harmless prior to spilling out their version of scripture and gospel, hoping nobody will think there's any great difference? Would that be an honest way of going about things, if that is the case?

Joseph Smith was cursed by Paul over 1900 years ago:

"I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel;
which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!

As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed! "

Galatians 1:6-9

The church has many Trojan horses... i mean gee, the Protestant church started because one man (Henry 8Th) wanted to have a divorce ?

So all Denominations, are started by one man, who thinks their belief in the bible, or faith, is better than the previous mans... hence the whole Christian faith is a mess.. the first christian faith was Catholicism, and look how all the different branches of Catholicism ( the hundreds of denominations), are against the Root... that just goes to show how corrupt and messed up the whole religion is.

Well, it's hard enough to accept Christianity. But I just don't get how anyone could get sucked in to a "religion", concocted by a convicted snake oil salesman, sitting on one side of a blanket, while someone writes down his ravings, much of which is directly plagiarized from the bible anyway. It must have been hard for him to stifle his laughter while he dictated it.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes... to basically all of your questions.

Crazy stuff, huh?

Oh... and I was just wondering... how many people, "back in the day" complained about YOUR RELIGION similarly?

I'm sorry - where are you living because I get all kinds of comments for being Mormon.

Also, the Book of Mormon says NO SUCH THING about Christianity and the Bible. No, we don't believe, nor blame, a certain group is responsible for the corruption and we believe it's through poor translation and not intentional corruption.

We also believe that all Christian churches have some truth, but they don't have the full truth. You really don't understand what we believe....do you?

Our "version of scripture" is the KJV with the BoM, D&C and PoGP. I pray that people will be able to tell the difference between having all those scriptures vs just having the NIV or KJV or whatever they have now because if they can't recognize the difference they need to be checked out.

I keep wondering how something can be apostasy before the real thing comes up... Anyway, I don't consider Mormons Christians. A Christian is a follower of Christ, not someone who claims that Christ failed in his mission. They can call themselves whatever they want; that doesn't necessarily make them that thing.

Mormonism is as much a Trojan Horse as Christianity is a Trojan Horse coming into the Jewish camp.

I wouldn't call it a Trojan horse; it is simply another hoax, not that much different from Christianity itself.

Don't be so paranoid. If you don't like the Mormon thing, don't be a Mormon!

I don't see how the existence of Mormons or any other religion should be a threat to you?

Follow your heart, don't worry about what others are doing.

Interesting comparison! More to it than meets the eye...and that "more" has to hide what it really is until it's within the gates...good one.

I've had lots of discussions with Mormons (and not just the visiting missionaries), and I've done some research into their beliefs. It is true that they are perceived as a Christian denomination, yet I can find no basis from the Bible in these teachings:

The Father has a body of flesh and bones.
Adam was Michael the Archangel and came to earth with one of his wives.
Baptism for the dead.
There are 3 final realms.
Marriages can be contracted for time and eternity.
Jesus was to be born in Jerusalem.
There were 3 days of darkness after the crucifixion.
The Church existed in 147 BC.
Disciples were called Christians in 73 BC.
New revelations still being made.

By all means, let them worship as they please, and call themselves what they please. But to claim they are Christian is misleading. The version of Christ they believe in and the gospel message they preach is not to be found in my Bible. I can therefore only conclude that they are pseudo-Christians - having a form of Christianity but one that is at variance with orthodox Christianity.

To describe Mormonism as a Trojan Horse is an interesting analogy. Whatever anyone thinks of this religion, one thing is true - we must always test the theology of others against the Bible. That's the only way to prove our faith.

hammy...

Why did Joseph smith not use the holy spirit to interpret the tablets of stone but instead had to use a seer stone?

imagine if Isaiah said.... HM god wrote down a message and i don't know what it meant, hang on let me use my special seer stone to decipher what it means....

god writes only 4 times in the bible

the 10 commandments twice
the rotating on the wall for the Babylonian king
and when Jesus wrote in the sand

further, we were warn red about accepting strange books from strange angels

obviously Mormons have decided that this particular verse in the gospel does not affect them in any shape or form

Mormons beleve they will become gods themselves

what line did the devil use to tempt adam and eve again?

mrmons beleive in magic undergarments for proptection

what does the bible think about magic

this is why they need another gospel, to try to allow everything the bible condemns, like multiple marriages

eery cult does the same,

the catholic church has its cannons, catechysms and encyclicals

momons have the book of mormon

Jw's have the watch tower publications

and islam has the qu'ran the hadith and the sura

supplementary man made editions to get away with the things the bible condemns

we ought to beleive God rather than men

Exmormon here....

It seems to me the definition of a Christian would be whoever believes in what they interpret the teachings of Jesus to be. Yes, their doctrine is a load of crap (to me), but they truly, honestly believe it. When I was a Mormon, I still considered other non-Mormons as Christians (if that's what they called themselves), yes I believed there was a great apostasy, but that only meant that I believed that the priesthood and the spirit of God was taken off the earth, and restored with Joe Smith. I believed that the Bible was the word of God, and those who believed in it (the New Testament) were Christians, just like me. Hope that explains some things.

Liesel.

Or, another thought is that you might listen to such a message with earnestness and sincerity, finding out for yourself if such claims are true, seeking the spirit of the Holy Ghost to confirm your answer as you pray to God to know of its truth or not.

I'm an ex-Mormon; and I had my name removed from all records in the Mormon church.

Baptisms are pushed very heavily -- that is why there is such a broad outreach program to baptize as many people as they can. And to do so when they do not know what the church really teaches.

I was baptized in a Mormon church when I was a child. I had no knowledge, but I had a fertile mind which they filled with Mormon information.

I left the church after being called to read the Bible -- I was called by God because I know that is the only way a person can read the Bible 5-8 hours a day solid. OT-NT in the order it was composed -- The first five books of the OT are filled with laws. Laws that no man or woman could ever keep all of them. There was no way to go to heaven.

God, in his mercy, sent His beloved Son, Jesus Christ to the earth to teach for about 3 1/2 years, and ultimately sacrifice Himself so that all mankind could return to God. Jesus is our Lord and Master, he is the conduit to God the father.

The Mormons do a lot of work for the dead in the temples, and I was married in the temple and was baptized over 100 times for other people. They also do seal families together. And they teach that the only people who will go to the glory of being with God are Mormons who have been married in the temple for time and all eternity.

At the crucifixion, on the moment Christ called out, "My God, my God, Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me." Matthew 27:46 -- this was just after the Father withdrew from the Son, it was the only way that Jesus Christ could make the ultimate sacrifice of being in hell -- and that is the absence of God. He sacrificed, and is the only one he had the personal power to give up the ghost and die. But by doing this, he became master of the living and the dead, so He could save them. "And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, He said, Father, into Thy hands I commend My spirit: and having said thus, He gave up the ghost" (Luke 23:46 KJV)

There was an earthquake and the veil in the temple was rent in half. It was torn apart because it was no longer necessary for a man to act as God and bring a person through the veil to the Celestial Kingdom. But this is what the Lord Jesus Christ said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comet unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6 (Nothing to do with any church -- purely Christ and Christianity)

So, this negates all of the work done in the temples because it is not necessary. The reason is that Christ brought a new law and ended the laws of the OT. Love thy neighbor as thyself.

In the temples there are many services performed for the dead.
But the Lord said, "Let the dead take care of their dead; it is for you to go and give news of the kingdom of God." Luke 9:60

What about temple marriages? The Lord said, ?For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.? Matthew 22:30

There are no crosses on the Mormon churches -- why? Because they truly do not understand the sacrifice God and Jesus made to bring salvation to mankind. They will tell you that they focus on the resurrection -- but that is because the real understanding is that the crucifixion of the Son of God is the most important aspect, and they do not know this, nor can they accept it for then it negates that they have to be a Mormon to go to heaven.

I was taught that "As man is, God once was, as God is, man may become." This is a polytheistic religion. It is the golden apple hung out there and it lures many in.

The church is wonderful for their family programs. It is very tempting to simply be a part of a group that is filled with good, loving people who believe every word they are taught.

That takes away your ability to think and consider, to search. It is the easy way. I have been blamed for the intellectual travels of my nephew, who thinks Mormonism is a bunch of junk. He is a good, kind, decent man; and he laughs at his parents who are so concerned about his going on a mission as it said in his Patriarchial Blessing. When he asked me questions, I sent him Bible verses.

I left the church 30 years ago. Many times I asked the Lord about being baptized as a Christian, but He did not respond. Then, last fall, He told me that I was to be baptized. I was going to my daughter's church. It is a Four Square, solid Bible teaching church, and they baptize by immersion as John did Jesus. 12/23/07 I was finally baptized because God told me to do this. Why the wait, I don't know; it is God's will, and that is all that matters.

I am a born again Christian. My faith has been tested and I've been through the fire that turns questions into faith. I can not prove that God exists. But I wanted the God of the Bible in my life, and I wanted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, and so I chose to believe.

Mormonism's initial position was that all churches are corrupt, an abomination and therefore Mr. Smith had to start a new one. The Book of Mormon also claims that there are only two churches; God's and Satan's. So Mormons initially didn't claim to be Christian in fact that's one of the reasons they never adopted the cross as a symbol of their faith.

Modern Mormons have attempted to be just another Christian domination. They aren't. They preach a Jesus who is our spiritual brother who progressed to become a God, a salvationALystem of obedience to laws and ordinances (of course only they have the authority to perform these saving rituals), believe polygamy is the perfect form of marriage (it's still in LDS scripture), and many other beliefs that have no place in Christianity.

Mormonism and mainstream Christianity have little in common and should stay distinct and separate.
